Ducati has unveiled the Diavel V4 RS, a limited-edition version of its power cruiser that now claims the title of fastest-accelerating production bike in the company’s line-up. The Diavel V4 RS joins the Multistrada V4 RS, expanding the exclusive RS range that brings MotoGP-derived technology to Ducati’s street bikes.

  1. Diavel V4 RS has the same 1,103cc Desmosedici Stradale V4 engine as the Panigale V4
  2. The claimed 0-100kph time for Diavel V4 RS is 2.5 seconds

Ducati Diavel V4 RS engine and performance

Diavel V4 RS makes 14hp more than the standard Diavel V4

The Diavel V4 RS isn’t simply a standard Diavel with sportier graphics. For starters, Ducati engineers have swapped the 1,158cc V4 Granturismo engine from the standard Diavel V4 for the 1,103cc Desmosedici Stradale engine from the Panigale V4. As a result, peak output figures stand at 182hp at 11,750rpm and 120Nm at 9,500rpm – up 14hp but down 6Nm compared to the standard Diavel V4.

Performance claims are equally impressive. In the hands of Marc Marquez, the Diavel V4 RS achieved a 0-100kph sprint in just 2.5 seconds, making it the fastest-accelerating road-going Ducati yet. The bike also debuts a new Ducati Power Launch system with three selectable levels that manage torque delivery and traction for optimal acceleration. Ducati says this allows even amateur riders to achieve similarly quick launch times.

Ducati Diavel V4 RS electronics and hardware

Race mode makes its first appearance on a Diavel

As expected, the electronics and hardware package is extensive. Riders get Power Modes (High, Medium and Low), Ducati Traction Control (DTC), Ducati Wheelie Control (DWC) and Ducati Quick Shift (DQS) 2.0. These integrate into four riding modes – Race, Sport, Touring and Wet. Notably, this is the first time a Diavel has a Race Mode, which changes the layout of the 5-inch TFT to display track-focused graphics and information.

The chassis uses an aluminium monocoque frame with the engine as a stressed member, paired with a single-sided aluminium swingarm. Suspension components are fully adjustable Ohlins units – an NIX30 fork and an STX 46 rear shock.

Braking hardware comes directly from the Panigale V4, with 330mm front discs gripped by Brembo Stylema monobloc calipers and a single 265mm rear disc. The bike rides on 17-inch forged aluminium wheels with Pirelli Diablo Rosso IV tyres in 120/70 ZR17 front and 240/45 ZR17 rear sizes.

Aside from the higher-spec hardware, Ducati has equipped the Diavel V4 RS with extensive carbon-fibre components, including front and rear mudguards, front fairing, tank covers, tail fairing and air intake ducts. A lighter battery also contributes to weight savings, with the RS tipping the scales at 220kg, 3kg lighter than the standard Diavel V4.
