BMW’s highly anticipated F 450 GS – made in India by TVS – broke cover at the recently concluded EICMA 2025. Multiple media outlets reported that the F 450 GS was likely to launch at IBW 2025 (India Bike Week), set to be held on December 19-20. However, the Bavarian brand is gearing up to launch it in India come 2026, likely in January itself.

  1. BMW F 450 GS will be manufactured by TVS
  2. Available in four variants overseas with differing equipment levels
  3. Will rival both single and twin-cylinder bikes

BMW F 450 GS launch price and other details

Powered by a new 420cc twin-cylinder liquid-cooled engine

The F 450 GS will form the entry point into BMW’s adventure bike line-up, replacing the erstwhile G 310 GS. In keeping with today’s market trends, the new entry-level GS is powered by a 420cc twin-cylinder liquid-cooled engine making 48hp at 8,750 rpm and 43Nm at 6,750 rpm. This engine is mated to a 6-speed gearbox, which is par for the course. An innovative addition here is that the baby GS will come with ‘Easy Ride Clutch’ technology, which eliminates the need for the rider to use the clutch when riding. How this new system works in comparison to other similar systems, such as Honda’s E-Clutch, remains to be seen.

It has a pretty respectable suite of electronics and features for the class, such as a 6.5-inch colour TFT display, heated grips, four riding modes, traction control and switchable dual-channel ABS. Four variants are available internationally – Basic, Exclusive, Sport and Trophy – with differing levels of equipment as well as features, and it remains to be seen how BMW Motorrad India structures the line-up for our market.

Coming to the matter of how much the BMW F 450 GS will cost upon launch, we expect it to be positioned between Rs 4.50 lakh and Rs 5.50 lakh (ex-showroom, India). It will go up against the KTM 390 Adventure (Rs 3.95 lakh), Royal Enfield Himalayan 450 (Rs 3.06 lakh-3.37 lakh) and Honda NX500 (Rs 6.33 lakh).
