Suzuki added a third bike to its off-road range in India – the DR-Z50. Priced at Rs 2.55 lakh (ex-showroom, India), this mini dirt bike might be one of the most expensive toys you can buy for your child.

The Japanese company says, “The 2019 Suzuki DR-Z50 is the ideal way to introduce young, beginning riders to the sport of motorcycling.” While that may be true we can’t be anything but amused by the specifications this little Suzuki has to offer. The DR-Z50 comes equipped with a 49cc, single-cylinder, four-stroke air-cooled motor that comes paired to a 3-speed transmission with an automatic clutch. While it would have been interesting to know the numbers, Suzuki hasn’t declared the power and torque figures this bike makes.

The suspension on the bike is handled by an upside-down fork and a monoshock. For braking, the bike uses drums at both ends. The DR-Z50 has a seat height of 560mm, a fuel tank capacity of 3 litres and a kerb weight of just 54kg. The dirt bike is available in only one colour scheme – Suzuki’s Championship Yellow – and looks just like a mini RM-Z450, which was launched in India back in October 2018 along with the RM-Z250.

Kawasaki also has a mini dirt bike on sale and it is called the KLX 110, but it is slightly larger in engine capacity and is priced at Rs 2.99 lakh (ex-showroom, India).
