While automatic climate control is available in both models, the Hilux takes it up a notch with dual-zone AC. Moreover, it also offers more adjustment for the driver’s seat and a cooled glove box over the V-Cross. One difference between the two pickups is that in the V-Cross, the rear bench can be flat-folded, while in the Hilux, it can be flipped upwards.

Surely, the Hilux carries the Toyota badge that unlocks more service touchpoints and a bigger engine with more power and torque. But the V-Cross is the more affordable option. Its base variant is priced Rs 2.52 lakh lower than the Hilux’s, and the gap increases to a massive Rs 5.09 lakh when their top variants are compared. In that sense, the V-Cross regains some edge by offering more value with nearly as many features as the Hilux.

Prices are ex-showroom, India.
