While it is underpinned by the Super Meteor 650, the Classic 650 features a host of changes that justify the name, including a different handlebar, a revised riding position, bespoke bodywork and the option of riding it solo or with a pillion. The Classic 650 is powered by Royal Enfield’s familiar 649cc, parallel-twin, air/oil-cooled engine that produces 47hp and 52Nm, paired with a 6-speed gearbox.
While both motorcycles are based on the Super Meteor’s platform, the Shotgun 650 is aimed at a younger audience, with a slightly more forward-set riding position and blacked-out engine components and pea-shooter exhausts. The Classic 650, on the other hand, retains a more traditional approach, featuring extensive chrome detailing that gives it a quintessentially Classic look.
The Royal Enfield Classic 650 has a kerb weight of 243kg, making it the heaviest Royal Enfield motorcycle currently on sale.
No, the Classic 650 does not get full LED lighting. While it features an LED headlamp, the tail-lamp and indicators continue to use conventional bulbs.
The Royal Enfield Classic 650 is offered in multiple colour options, in line with the Classic range’s traditional palette. These include red with white, blue with white, teal colour (same as the erstwhile Classic 500) and a full-chromed out option as well.
