I am looking to buy a new car under ₹25 lakh. I prefer an 8-seater layout and do not want a hybrid. A simple petrol engine with a CVT or torque converter automatic is preferred.

The only 8-seater option in the market is the Toyota Innova HyCross GX O, powered by a 2.0-litre naturally aspirated petrol engine and CVT. This Toyota car is much more spacious and comfortable than any seven-seater available at a similar price.

I am writing to ask for advice for the third time. Age 61. Monthly travel is 800-1,000km, sometimes more. Mostly travel to work and back, plus occasional outstation holiday trips. Outstation long-distance trips may increase in the coming years. I am looking for a reliable and comfortable 5 or 7-seater with good luggage space and good mileage. The vehicle can be petrol, hybrid, diesel or other. It is important that service in case of a breakdown is available across India. Budget up to Rs 35 lakh. Please guide.

The Toyota Innova HyCross hybrid or Maruti Suzuki Invicto hybrid are your best bets. These cars have an efficient hybrid powertrain that's likely to deliver around 13kpl in the city and 16kpl on the highway. Moreover, getting in and out is quite easy, the seats are comfortable, and the boot space is plenty. Also, despite being large cars, these are surprisingly easy to drive due to their light steering and good visibility.Lastly, both Toyota and Maruti have stellar reputations for their after-sales service and reliability, so you're likely to enjoy a trouble-free ownership experience by opting for either of these two.

Hi Team, hope you are doing well. I have listed my priorities below from highest to lowest. Could you please discuss internally and guide me on which one suits my needs? (Family of 3) Budget Rs 35 lakh. Sorted list by priority (top to bottom): 1. Comfort, no wobbling, stress-free long drives, excellent absorption of city potholes 2. Low NVH levels and minimal cabin vibration 3. Daily office commute in Bengaluru (50 km) 4. Efficiency (previous car driven to 1 lakh km in 8 years – diesel Brezza) 5. Fun to drive 6. Post-sales service and reliability 7. Safety 8. Features and interior 9. Need a big boot space occasionally when travelling from the hometown.

The best car to suit your wide range of needs is the Toyota Innova HyCross strong hybrid. It is perhaps not the most fun-to-drive vehicle on the market, but aside from that, it ticks all your boxes and is possibly the best all-round vehicle you can buy at this price point. To address all your points, it is superbly comfortable - even more so than the diesel Innova Crysta - and has become the long-distance choice for many families. But because of its strong hybrid petrol powertrain, it remains refined and can even run on electric power in city confines. This should serve you well on your commute through Bengaluru, most of which will likely happen in EV mode, leading to tremendous cost savings with the superb fuel economy.Toyota's aftersales and service are renowned worldwide for being top-class, and within your budget, you can get a fully loaded Innova Hycross with many bells and whistles. Finally, space - as this is a 3-row vehicle and you are a family of 3, there will rarely be a shortage of space, whether you chose the captain seats or the bench for the second row.
