Used Skoda Kushaq or new Kylaq: which 1.0 TSI MT SUV to buy?

Both SUVs get the 1.0-litre engine in the same state of tune; standard features may vary depending on the trim.

    New Kylaq vs Used Kushaq

My close friend has offered me his 2023 Skoda Kushaq 1.0 MT for a mouth-watering price – lower than the price of an entry-level Skoda Kylaq. My only concern is that this variant has only 2 airbags, whereas the Kylaq has 6. Will safety be a concern? What do you advice?

Autocar India says: Since the seller of this Skoda Kushaq is a close friend, you likely have a clear idea of the car’s history and how well it has been maintained. Being a 2023 model, it's most likely still covered under the factory warranty – and there’s a good chance the first owner has opted for the extended warranty too, offering added peace of mind. All things considered, this particular example seems like a smart buy.

The Kushaq itself is a solid, well-engineered car. It has secured a 5-star rating for adult protection in Global NCAP crash tests. Notably, the side impact test was conducted on the two-airbag version of the SUV, where it still performed admirably. On top of that, all variants come equipped with ESP—a key safety feature that actively helps avoid accidents in the first place.

That said, if six airbags is a non-negotiable requirement for you, then you may need to skip this one. In that case, consider either a higher variant on the used market or get a new Skoda Kylaq instead.
