•13wWhich one will suit Delhi NCR traffic and quarterly trips to the hills better, the Carens or the Aircross X, keeping mileage and comfort in mind? The third-row seats will mostly be used for luggage. The Carens has a DCT engine, while the Aircross has a torque converter. Monthly travel is around 800-900 km. Budget is ₹17 lakh. Please suggest. Thanks.

The Kia Carens Clavis has a plusher cabin and a stronger 160hp 1.5 turbo-petrol engine, and hence has better acceleration for quick overtakes in the hills and on the highway. Also, the overall cabin is more spacious than that of the Citroen Aircross X.
Where the Citroen scores is in the sheer comfort it excels at, thanks to a brilliant suspension and very well-cushioned seats. The Aircross’ 110hp 1.2 turbo-petrol engine is also quite strong, and for city driving, the 6-speed torque converter is smoother than the Caren’s DCT.
Overall, the Aircross X is the better bet, as it makes a great everyday car, has superb suspension for bad roads, and has adequate power for the hills. Plus, the Aircross is significantly cheaper than the Carens Clavis, which, starting at around Rs. 19 lakh for the DCT variants, is actually over your budget.
