We are confused between the Tata Nexon and the MG Astor. We drive on the highway frequently, and definitely need an SUV.

Autocar India says: The MG Astor is larger, feels upmarket and comes with a better-appointed cabin, which certainly builds its case. Its 1.5-litre petrol is adequate for the city however it feels underpowered for highway drives, and the turbo-petrol version is rather expensive and thirsty too.

Between the two cars you’ve selected, we’d recommend the Tata Nexon, which feels tougher and its suspension feels relatively more suited for highway drives. The diesel version is the one to buy for its strong performance and better fuel efficiency. The Nexon has been awarded 5 stars in Global NCAP crash tests but it misses side and curtain airbags. So if you want a competent highway car with all the safety bells and whistles, you could also consider the Mahindra XUV300, Skoda Kushaq and Volkswagen Taigun.
