Hi Autocar, I am planning to buy a new car (currently using an i10). I am from Delhi, and my budget is around ₹15-16 lakh on-road. My daily running is around 30 km, with highway trips only once every quarter. We are confused between the Skoda Slavia 1.0 Signature/Sportline CVT and the Honda Elevate VX CVT. We are planning to keep the car for long-term usage. Kindly suggest which one would be the better choice.

Mostly city use with short highway runs and a ₹15-16 lakh on-road cap in Delhi, in this brief the Honda Elevate VX automatic is the safer long-term pick. It suits daily Delhi driving better because the higher seat and ground clearance make bad roads, tall speed breakers and waterlogging less stressful. Two trade-offs with the Elevate VX: the cabin feels simpler than the Slavia’s, and highway overtakes need a firm press, especially with a full load.

Overall, for your city-heavy routine and long-term peace of mind, go with the Elevate VX automatic.

I am confused between the Elevate and the Creta. I understand that the Creta is the more established one, but with Honda, the value it brings is amazing, while the price of the Creta is a bit higher than the value it offers. I am mostly a city driver, with around 95% of my driving in the city and occasional highway trips, covering around 10,000km per year. Can you help me get some perspective?

Since your usage is mainly in the city, you are likely to appreciate the Creta's smoothness and refinement, as well as the additional features it offers. Sure, this Hyundai car might cost a bit more, but it is a proven product that commands strong brand equity, which is likely to translate to higher resale value. The Honda Elevate gives you most of what you need at a significantly lower cost, and Honda’s service network is strong enough to make ownership hassle-free. Go for the Elevate if you value its stronger engine performance, else for a refined drive experience, pick the Creta.

I need an SUV with minimum 470 liters of boot space and manual transmission where I need more than 12 years with minimum complexity turbo petrol engine (NA is better) and budget is on-road price 22 lacs max. Can you suggest me at least 2 cars ?

I need an automatic that is reliable, fuel-efficient, and maintenance-friendly. I am currently considering the Punch EV, Nexon DCA, Brezza AT, and Elevate V CVT, as discounts make the Elevate fit within my budget. I mainly use the car for my office commute of around 85 km daily, with occasional weekend trips of 500-600 km. I have a family of four, and this will be my only car. My office has free EV charging infrastructure, which makes me consider the Punch EV. However, I am concerned about its range on longer weekend trips, so I am also looking at petrol alternatives.

The Brezza AT is a solid, reliable option, but the Elevate feels like the more complete family car with better space and a larger boot.The Elevate V CVT is the car you will be happiest with after five years of ownership. It is reliable, easy to live with and well suited to your daily routine and family needs.

The Audi New Q3 might be significantly more expensive than the other options you've listed. However, if you're referring to the outgoing model available at a discounted price, we'd recommend you to certainly consider it. The Audi Q3 has a strong 2.0 TSI engine, and its ride comfort is excellent too. Additionally, the all-wheel drive system makes it an able handler. So if you like to drive, this one is certainly worth considering. You'll also appreciate the cabin quality and seat comfort. And while it has the basics, some features like ventilated seats, wireless Android Auto/Apple CarPlay, powered tailgate, etc are missing.The BMW X1 will be a lot more spacious in comparison, however its turbo-petrol engine doesn't match the Audi's performance or responsiveness.
