Hello, I am confused between the Skoda Kylaq Signature+ Petrol Automatic and the Mahindra XUV 3XO AX5 Petrol Automatic. Both have the same ex-showroom price, but the on-road price of the Mahindra XUV 3XO is Rs. 20,000 higher. Which one should I buy?

At virtually the same price, the Kylaq is the more satisfying car to drive. Its 1.0-litre turbo-petrol engine is responsive, the 6-speed Aisin torque-converter automatic is smooth and reliable, and the overall ride and handling strike an excellent balance between comfort and driver engagement. If you enjoy driving, the Kylaq has the edge.

The Mahindra XUV 3XO AX5 Automatic counters with a roomier cabin, a longer features list and excellent safety credentials. It is the better choice if rear-seat space and features are your priorities. However, the Kylaq feels more polished from behind the wheel.

You should consider the Nissan Magnite CVT. Its smooth CVT automatic feels effortless to drive in traffic, and the light steering, compact size, and tall seating make it friendly for city use and easy to get in and out of.You also get a proper SUV-like stance with good ground clearance for bad roads and speed breakers and parking is simple thanks to the compact dimensions. Service costs are reasonable, and Nissan’s service network has good coverage in metros.Do note, the cabin plastics and sound insulation aren't great. Alternatively, if you want a more solid and plush compact SUV with a punchier engine, consider the Skoda Kylaq Signature AT.

Hi, I was considering a Kylaq Sig+, the Venue N line N6 and maybe Honda Elevate, trying to keep the cost below 13lakhs. A first-time car buyer. It's just my wife and me, sometimes maybe take our parents around. Our goals are weekend trips, and weekdays are not a lot. Want it to be a sub SUV of sorts. Would also do multistate trips sometimes. Kylaq was a no-brainer, but I was worried about Skoda maintenance and the turbo petrol engine. Should I look at NA instead? Please suggest from the above, or if there's any other car I could consider?

We'd recommend the Skoda Kylaq Signature+ Automatic. For a first-time buyer who will mostly use the car for weekend drives, occasional long road trips and relatively little weekday running, the Kylaq is the most rounded choice. It offers excellent ride and handling, feels secure at highway speeds and is enjoyable to drive without compromising on comfort.We wouldn't be overly concerned about the 1.0 TSI turbo-petrol engine. It is now a well-proven powertrain, and the 6-speed Aisin torque-converter automatic has a strong reputation for smoothness and reliability. As for maintenance, Skoda's ownership costs have become much more competitive in recent years, especially if you opt for one of its service packages.The Honda Elevate is a strong alternative if you value long-term simplicity and reliability above all else. Its naturally aspirated petrol engine and CVT are proven, easy to live with and should offer complete peace of mind, though it isn't as engaging to drive as the Kylaq.

At present, I am using a Ford Figo diesel. Now I am planning to buy an SUV. Most of my driving is on highways and hilly roads. I am 58 years old, and my budget is under 15 lakh. My choices are the Honda Elevate and the Hyundai Venue diesel. Which one is better for long-term ownership? Are there any other options I should consider?

Pick the Hyundai Venue diesel. Your driving is mostly on the highway and hills, and the diesel pulls strongly at low revs, making climbs easier. It will also save you money on long runs thanks to far better fuel economy than a petrol car. Your highway use will also keep the DPF or diesel particulate filter running at its best. The flip side is size. The downside is that the Venue is smaller than the Elevate. The rear seat is not as spacious, and the boot capacity is also lower.If you want a more relaxed highway feel and a roomier cabin, the Honda Elevate is the comfier mile‑eater. It's simple petrol is fuss‑free to own for years, but you will downshift more on steep climbs, and your fuel bills will be higher. The automatic also feels busy uphill.Other options worth checking are the Skoda Kylaq (strong engine and fun to drive, but a touch small for rear seat occupants) and the Mahindra XUV 3XO diesel. If cabin space is a key requirement, consider the Kia Syros diesel, which offers a very roomy interior.

Between the German twins, the choice largely comes down to personal preference, as they share the same engines, gearboxes and underpinnings. We slightly prefer the Kushaq for its cleaner design, excellent ride and handling balance and overall value proposition.As for the DSG, it isn't as big a concern as it once was. The current DSGs are far more robust than the earlier units, but if your driving is predominantly in bumper-to-bumper NCR traffic, a torque-converter automatic is still the smoother and more relaxed option over the long term. If you want to stay with a German SUV but avoid the DSG altogether, the 1.0 TSI automatic in the Kushaq and Taigun now comes with an 8-speed Aisin torque-converter, which is smooth, refined and better suited to heavy city traffic.Coming from the S-Cross Petrol, you'll notice a significant step up in performance, cabin quality, safety and driving dynamics with either car.

Hi, I own a Wagon R 1.0 liter engine. I bought it in November 2025. I had done 2 free services of it. My car gives me about 13-15 kmpl in city driving when the AC is on. I drive at a speed of about 60 km in the city. Is this average ok? If not, then what should I do? My daily ride is about 20 km.

A city fuel efficiency of 13-15kpl with the air conditioning on is slightly on the lower side for a Wagon R 1.0, but it isn't necessarily a cause for concern, especially if you're driving in Lucknow's city traffic with frequent stops and the AC running throughout your journey.Your 20km daily commute should be enough for the engine to reach its normal operating temperature, but fuel efficiency can still vary depending on traffic conditions, idling time and driving style. We'd recommend checking that your tyre pressures are maintained at the manufacturer's recommended levels, avoiding hard acceleration and excessive idling, and using good-quality fuel from reputed fuel stations.

Go for the Toyota Innova HyCross. For a family, it simply works better as the cabin is roomier, the third row is actually usable for adults, the ride is smoother, and the hybrid saves a lot of fuel in city traffic where most family cars spend their time. Long trips feel easier too, and Toyota’s hassle-free ownership and resale help over years.Pick the Hyundai Alcazar only if you’re on a tighter budget or you want a slightly smaller, easier-to-park 3-row. It’s great for four or five with the third row used occasionally, and the diesel suits heavy highway use. But the last row and boot are tighter, and it doesn’t feel as plush or relaxed on bad roads.One honest trade-off with the Innova HyCross is the higher price and possible waiting period, and the boot with all three rows up isn’t huge. If that stretch and wait are okay, it’s the better family car overall.
