I want to buy a 7-seater car, and I like the MG Hector Plus. I like its build quality, interior and price. Should I go for it or look at the Tata Safari or 7XO?

While there's a lot to like about the MG Hector Plus, like its upmarket interior and plush ride comfort, it isn't a spacious or comfortable seven-seater, due to a cramped third row.
The Tata Safari is certainly a better 7-seater SUV. Passengers will be comfortable in all three rows, and this Tata car feels tough and well-built. It is also well-equipped and has a stronger pair of engines - turbo-petrol and diesel.

Go for Hector coz it is much better than Safari and I am telling you from my own experience.i have been owner of Tata xz plus model and I can surely tell u ,it has been a problem for me from day one. From driving comfort like big blind spot in form of A pillar but Tata enthusiast will counter it with 360 camera which provide additional view while turning.i have never used this is overcome blind spot and always felt obstructed and inconvenient. Secondly ,suspension is big flop show including damper.With a six month of purchase ,there was full rattling sound in vehicle and when I visiting service station,they replaced damper . Best part of challenge is getting appointment for servicing,when ever you call for service center ,they will give appointment after 3-4 months. And even then not sure whether you get right resolution there also. My infotainment system was hanging and it took a year for me to get rectified but not fully yet. Morever, my cutchplate got burnt with one year of service and I paid around 70k two times to be rectified and when I asked for warranty,they said it is not covered. There are more such misadventures which i came across after buying this car for 30plus and it is idling in my garrage with no taker. And last but not least ,when I car broke down in middle of road,their RSA did not entertain my call and i had to get my car lifted and reach home. But next day I recieved a call for feedback on service whi h was never rendered. Best part was that when I contacted Tata motors they were dumb and had no resolution. Belive me gentleman,they are good for manufacturing truck and etc and cannot be good fit for us. God help those who go for safari and it's other product.

Go for hector as it is much better than any tata vehicle

Your usage and requirements point to a tough yet comfortable diesel SUV with lots of space. In that use, the Tata Safari 6-seat diesel automatic Accomplished X+ fits you best. It rides comfortably on broken surfaces, feels steady at highway speeds, and the captain seats in the middle row are wide and easy to get in and out of, which matters when you are in the car for hours every day. They're also widely adjustable and even ventilated, which is a bonus. The diesel with an automatic gearbox means less effort in slow stretches and relaxed cruising between towns, and diesel makes sense for your monthly distance.Know the trade-offs. With all three rows up, boot space is tight, so plan for a roof carrier if you carry a lot of luggage, and Tata's aftersales and service network isn't quite as good as some other brands. If you are fine with a manual, the Toyota Innova Crysta 7-seat diesel remains a great long-term workhorse and is very reliable too. However, it's not as comfortable or well equipped as the Tata Safari.As for EVs, your two options are the Vinfast VF MP7 and the BYD eMax7. However, due to their long wheelbases, slightly lower ground clearances and underbody battery packs, we'd recommend sticking to an ICE MPV for your usage on rough roads and quarries. Additionally, their dealership and after-sales networks are still limited compared to Tata and Toyota.

Hi, I am confused between the Kia Seltos diesel, which I like for its interior and performance with around 15 km/l, and the Toyota Hyryder hybrid, which is a compromise in design but offers 22+ km/l. My daily drive is around 70 km with a mix of city and highway. Also, is there any possibility of a Kia Seltos hybrid coming next year? I would be happy to wait.

As you rightly pointed out, the Kia Seltos has a superb, upmarket interior that is far nicer than the rather drab cabin of the Toyota Urban Cruiser Hyryder. The Seltos diesel is also more enjoyable to drive, and as an overall package of performance, comfort and boot space, it feels like the better all-rounder.The Hyryder strong hybrid, on the other hand, is the one to pick if you prioritise efficiency and a smooth, relaxed driving experience in traffic. With your 70km-a-day mixed commute, you will see a clear running-cost advantage with the Toyota over the diesel Seltos, especially if you plan to keep the car for many years.As for a Seltos hybrid, there is a hybrid powertrain in the works, which could come as early as the second half of 2026. If you are willing to wait that long, that could indeed be the ideal middle path combining the Seltos’ feel-good factor with hybrid-like efficiency.

I am planning to buy a new SUV. The budget is 12-14 lakh. Which is the better choice, the Mahindra 3XO AX5 diesel automatic or the Tata Nexon Pure Plus diesel automatic, in terms of overall maintenance and mileage?

The Mahindra XUV 3XO is the newer car. It offers a more refined and punchy diesel engine with strong torque, which makes both city and highway driving effortless. It is also the widest car in the segment, which makes it a genuinely comfortable five-seater, especially for three people in the rear. The ride quality is comfortable and well-suited for daily use, and it is also very well priced for what it offers.The Tata Nexon is also a solid alternative. It feels sturdy, has good road presence and offers a bigger boot, which makes it more practical for luggage. However, the diesel engine and AMT combination is not as refined or smooth as the 3XO, and overall, the car now feels a step behind in terms of drivetrain and freshness.The one clear drawback with the 3XO is the smaller boot, which is where the Nexon has a clear advantage.

Your usage is high, and the hybrid will use far less fuel in city traffic while staying calm and smooth. It pulls away on electric power at low speeds, so stop-go driving feels quiet and easy.You like the Seltos for its cabin and stronger shove, and that is fair. The Seltos diesel feels stronger when you press the throttle for quick passes, and its cabin does look and feel richer. If most of your 70 km is open highway and you really value that strong pull and the Kia car interior, the Seltos diesel automatic is still a solid pick.On a Kia Seltos hybrid: Kia does intend to introduce a hybrid, but timing is not yet decided as they are trying to localise components. Mostly highway use, about 1,000 km a month, safety first, and an automatic in the Rs 12-13 lakh range, in that brief, we would suggest the Skoda Kylaq Signature. Its torque converter is much smoother than an AMT or DCT, so city driving feels easy, and performance from the 1.0 TSI makes highway overtakes effortless. The Kylaq has a 5-star crash score from Bharat NCAP and feels steady at highway speeds, which builds confidence. It also rides well over broken patches, so you are not tossed around.Two things to keep in mind: while the front seats are comfy and supportive, space in the back seat is a bit tight. It makes up for it with a large boot and a low loading lip. If you want more space, look at the Nissan Magnite Tekna Turbo CVT, which has a 5-star safety rating from Global NCAP.Overall, for highway-heavy use with safety at the top, the Kylaq lines up best in your budget.
