Hi team Autocar , thank you for your valuable and proffessional advise . I am thinking of buying a used 2023 Renault Duster RXZ 1.3 Turbo CVT, which has clocked 25 K kms. asking price 6lacs. I would be grateful if you could help me with the Pros and Cons, the maintenance, mileage, actual market price etc. Could you suggest an alternate SUV with a budget of 6-7 lacs. Thanks

At ₹6 lakh, the Duster looks like an excellent deal, provided it has a clean service history and no accident record. It's comfortable, powerful and reliable, but expect around 9-10 km/l in the city and 13-15 km/l on highways. At this budget, you can also consider a used Hyundai Creta or Kia Seltos if after-sales support and easier availability of parts are your priorities.

The combination delivers a smooth and easy drive experience when driven at normal everyday pace and enough performance for highway drives too. Inside the new Seltos has more space too and the 447 litre boot is also well shaped and would easily manage luggage for a weekend trip. With long drives every alternate month, if you are looking for something more fun to drive, consider the Renault Duster turbo petrol automatic. The Duster’s ride quality is excellent especially on highways and rough patches, and the handling feels quite sporty. The turbo petrol engine paired with the 6-speed dual clutch automatic is smooth and responsive but on the efficiency front the Seltos might prove to be better for you.

Which is the best car under Rs. 10 lakh for 90% city driving and 10% highway driving? I am confused between the Maruti Suzuki Dzire and the Tata Altroz Diesel.

Go for the Maruti Suzuki Dzire petrol AMT. With 90% city driving, diesel is not the right choice. Modern diesels with DPFs are not happy with short city runs, and the cost savings wont add up with limited running. The Dzire is light, easy to drive, reliable, the AMT makes city traffic far less tiring and the 1.2-litre engine is very fuel efficient. It is also backed by Maruti’s massive service network and low running costs, which is exactly what you want as a long-term city car under 10 lakh. The Altroz diesel is a good car, but diesel simply does not make sense for your usage pattern. The Dzire is the safer, more sensible and more hassle-free choice for your needs.

Which is the best SUV to buy now or is it better to wait for 1-1.5 years since there are going to be a lot of changes in the powertrain landscape? Should I buy a hybrid or a petrol automatic SUV under a budget of Rs. 25 lakh. My daily usage is 50-60 km within the city, including heavy traffic and bad roads, along with highway travel once or twice a month.
