I want to purchase a car, considering 3 options- Petrol, Hybrid & EV 1- slavia 1.5 dsg 2- Mahindra BE6 pack2 79kwh 3- Honda City Hybrid My yearly drive is 12.5K km (60% highway and 40% city), and I am planning to keep the car for 15 years. Due to e20 concern, I am hesitant to buy Slavia, as a European car may need only xp95 or xp100, which will have high running cost, so I kept 2 more options of hybrid & EV. Can I put normal E20 to slavia1.5dsg, and with all 3, which one should I pick? All 3 cars are almost 25L on road.
Go for the Honda City Hybrid. With 12,500km a year and a 60% highway/40% city split, the hybrid powertrain will deliver the best balance of efficiency, refinement and long-term ownership confidence. The City Hybrid is a proven, reliable package with excellent fuel economy in both city and highway conditions, and Honda’s ownership experience is among the best in the segment. It is also a car you can realistically keep for 15 years without major concerns. The Mahindra BE6 is an interesting EV, and at 12,500km a year and EV would prove to be economical. However, with significant highway usage, charging infrastructure, and long-distance planning, you may not want to add complexity. The City Hybrid gives you the best of both worlds: low running costs, strong reliability and no charging concerns. It is the most sensible long-term choice for your usage pattern.
I am planning to buy a petrol manual SUV with a budget of around Rs. 15 lakh. I am unable to decide between the Tata Sierra, Kia Seltos, and Hyundai Creta. Whichever car I choose will be a huge upgrade, as I currently drive a 2010 Maruti Suzuki Zen Estilo that is 16 years old. My usage is very minimal, around 200 km per month. Which one would you recommend?
With just 200km a month and a 16-year-old Zen Estilo as your current car, the priority should be a comfortable, reliable and easy-to-live-with upgrade rather than chasing the biggest or most feature-rich SUV. The Kia Seltos petrol manual is the best fit here. It is a well-rounded SUV with a comfortable ride, good refinement and a proven ownership track record. It will feel like a huge step up from the Estilo in terms of space, safety and overall driving experience without being unnecessarily large or complex for your low running. The Tata Sierra is a more premium and spacious option, but with such minimal usage, the extra size and cost are difficult to justify. The Hyundai Creta is a solid alternative too, but it will be replaced by a new one next year. The Seltos also feels more premium and is the better value proposition in this price range. Go for the Seltos petrol manual and enjoy a simple, dependable upgrade that will serve you well for years.
I own a 2010 Maruti Suzuki Zen Estilo and am planning to replace it. I’m looking for a petrol SUV with a manual transmission. My monthly running is around 200-250 km, with a mix of city and highway driving. My budget is Rs. 15 lakh. Which car would you recommend?
With a monthly running of 200-250km and a mix of city and highway driving, petrol is the right choice. Your budget of Rs 15 lakh and preference for a manual SUV point you towards the compact SUV car, where you will get the best value and the most complete ownership experience. The Maruti Suzuki Brezza is the most sensible recommendation here. It is reliable, easy to maintain, has a strong service network and is one of the most comfortable compact SUVs for both city and highway use. The naturally aspirated petrol engine is smooth and predictable, making it a very easy car to live with over the long term.If you want something a bit more engaging to drive, the Skoda Kylaq is a strong alternative. The 1.0 TSI engine is punchy and the car feels more dynamic on the highway, but it will not be as easy or as cheap to maintain as the Brezza over a long ownership period, and its fuel efficiency won't be as good either. The Mahindra XUV 3XO is also worth considering if you want more features and a more powerful engine, but the Brezza remains the most balanced choice for your usage and budget.
