I am confused between some car choices I have a honda Wrv 2019 petrol Rides 12k -13K Yearly from Werkly commute from Rewari to Noida I can flex budget from 12 Lakh to 16 Lakh I will take vehicle via CSD facility Also I can flex between Diesel , Petrol and Hybrid Petrol I want Automatic for sure Some option I look forward are Kia Sonet HTX Diesel Automatic - 12 Lakk on road via csd Kia Seltos 2026 HTK O _ IVT - 15Lakh via csd Kia Seltos Disel At : 16.5 Lakh Toyota Hyryder S - Strong Hybrind - 16.5 Lakh via csd Xuv 7XO AX3 - Diesel AT : 16 -17 Lakh via csd Suggest on value for money Better Product Muleage Reliability And all other featurws to look for a Family Car

Seltos diesel automatic makes sense. It has perfect balance of comfort and performance. It offers decent mileage and it is spacious for family use. It is an all-rounder.

Hello Autocar, I am using a 4-year-old Tata Nexon AMT, and I suffered a gear oil leakage issue during the third year and an engine oil leakage issue in the fourth year. Due to the engine oil leakage, the engine had to be opened for repairs, and the car remained in the workshop for two months. Since the engine has been opened, I am wondering whether I should replace the car because of these issues. However, the car is running fine now, although I do feel there is a loss of power and mileage. I would like to know whether I should change the car now or wait a few months to understand the roadmap for ethanol blending. Also, my annual running is only around 5,000 km. Would a naturally aspirated engine be a better choice than a turbocharged engine, considering the car would remain idle for long periods? I am thinking of switching to the Maruti Suzuki Brezza TC. However, I like the Kia Sonet's interiors, but I am concerned about its turbo engine and DCT. That said, the Sonet seems like a fun-to-drive car on the highways. My usage will be around 70% city and 30% highway. Please advise.

Given your low annual running of 5,000km and the fact that the car will be idle for long periods, a naturally aspirated petrol engine paired with a torque converter automatic is the most sensible choice. The Maruti Suzuki Brezza fits this brief perfectly. It is a simple, reliable and low-maintenance package with a proven engine and gearbox combination that will serve you well over a long ownership period. The Sonet turbo petrol DCT is the more fun-to-drive option on the highway, but the DCT gearbox is not the ideal choice for predominantly city driving and long periods of idling. As for your current Nexon, if the car is running fine now, there is no immediate need to change it. However, given the engine has already been opened and you are experiencing a perceived loss of power and mileage, it is understandable to want to move on. On the ethanol front, there is no official roadmap beyond E20 at this stage, and modern engines are engineered to handle E20 without issue. There is no need to wait for further clarity. The Brezza is the safer and more sensible long-term choice for your usage pattern.

I’m buying my first car and am still learning to drive. My monthly running will be around 500-600 km, with most of my driving in Mumbai city and occasional weekend highway trips. I plan to keep the car for the next 8-10 years. I was initially considering the Hyundai Venue HX 8 Automatic Petrol, but I dropped the plan because it does not offer a panoramic sunroof. Now I’m confused between the Hyundai Creta S(O) and the Kia Seltos HTK(O) 1.5 NA Petrol Automatic. The Creta S(O) is around Rs. 1 lakh cheaper than the Seltos HTK(O), but the additional features offered by the Seltos are tempting. Which one would you recommend for my requirements?

Go for the Kia Seltos IVT. It is based on a newer platform than the Creta and is bigger inside and out. For your usage and ownership plan, it is the sensible choice. The 1.5 naturally aspirated petrol paired with the IVT is smooth, reliable and well suited to city driving, and as you mentioned, the Kia has the extra features you want. While it does cost more, it does give you more for the money. The Creta is also due for a full model change in 2027, so you are buying a car that is closer to the end of its lifecycle, but that is not a deal breaker given Hyundai's strong aftersales support and the fact that the mechanical package is proven and reliable.

I am currently using a 2018 Baleno Petrol Alpha. My usage is 4,000km monthly, with 85%-90% highway travel. The car is usually driven with a driver and two rear-seat passengers. I am looking for a new car with excellent mileage, 5-star safety, and good rear-seat comfort. I also have a 2019 i20 Asta for city commute and a 2017 XUV500 for family outings. I have no issues with buying a diesel or strong hybrid within a Rs 15 lakh budget.

The entry-level variants of both these cars are equipped with ample safety kit, as well as the basics that you'd expect in a car of this price.If you want something a bit smaller, you can consider the Kia Syros diesel-manual too, which is surprisingly spacious for its size, and being a segment lower, you'll get more equipment too. What's more, the Syros' rear seats can recline to a very comfortable angle, and even slide back to free up more legroom. Even the Syros has scored 5 stars for its crash safety.

I currently own a Skoda Kushaq Petrol AT. Everything is fine except the mileage. I am getting only around 10-13kpl with E20 petrol. My daily running is around 100 km. Should I buy a diesel car or an electric car?

With a daily running of around 100 km, fuel efficiency becomes a major factor in ownership costs. The Skoda Kushaq petrol automatic is a good car, but the 10-13kpl you are seeing is typical for a turbo petrol automatic, especially with E20 petrol. At this usage, a diesel or a strong hybrid makes far more sense.If you do regular highway runs, a diesel is still the most practical and cost-effective solution. The Mahindra XUV 7XO diesel automatic would be the recommendation here. It is a strong highway car, comfortable, spacious and the diesel engine will deliver significantly better fuel efficiency than your Kushaq. Diesel running costs will be far lower over your kind of mileage. If that is out of your budget, something smaller like a Kia Seltos diesel, while not as powerful, is even more efficient.If your usage is mostly city a strong hybrid could be a better solution. The Maruti Suzuki Victoris is the most practical and cost-effective option. It is well priced, has a proven track record and will dramatically reduce your running costs.
