My monthly running is around 1,200 km, including two highway trips of about 300 km each. I’m looking for an automatic car within a budget of ₹8 lakh and have shortlisted the Tata Tiago XZA. Please suggest if it’s a good choice.

We are yet to drive either of the cars you have mentioned, as they were unveiled yesterday. However, based on our experience with the Maruti Suzuki E Vitara, which the Toyota Urban Cruiser Ebella is based on, the Skoda Kushaq should be the better option purely in terms of comfort and space.Like the eVitara, the Ebella is unlikely to impress with rear seat comfort, and its boot is quite small. The Kushaq, on the other hand, has always been a spacious car, and it is safe to expect the new version to continue that trend. Added features such as rear massage seats, a panoramic sunroof, and the new 10.25-inch digital instrument cluster will further enhance the overall sense of premiumness.

Within your budget, retro-styled bikes you should be looking at are the Royal Enfield Hunter / Classic / Bullet 350, TVS Ronin, Triumph Speed T4, and Honda CB350 trio. All options have comfortable suspension, upright and neutral ergonomics and will be good in terms of fuel economy too.Of these options, the Triumph bike will provide the most performance and have the best handling. A test ride of all those on your shortlist will be helpful in deciding which is the correct fit for you.

In your price range, there are 4 options which you can consider - Bajaj Chetak 3001 / 3503, TVS iQube 3.1 / 3.5, Vida VX2 Plus (3.4kWh) and the Ather Rizta S 2.9. Of these four, the Rizta, iQube and Chetak have been on sale for multiple years and have proven their reliability. The Vida is relatively newer, but it should also be a pretty reliable machine in the long run.Do take a test ride of all four to see which one suits you best. If you are a taller person, the Bajaj Chetak will be the most spacious and will fit you better. It is also worth visiting your nearest authorised dealership and finding out the service intervals for each, as EV ownership differs significantly from petrol scooters like the Suzuki Access.
