•14wMy monthly driving will be around 1,000 km, and I will be doing 2 to 3 highway trips a year. I am looking for a car between Rs 15 to 17 lakh. I have test-driven the hybrid versions of the Hyryder and Victoris and liked both. Now I am in a dilemma about which one to purchase. The Hyryder is a tried and tested product, whereas the Victoris is entirely new in the market. Kindly help. My main priorities are fuel efficiency and safety.

While the Toyota Urban Cruiser Hyryder has been in the market for longer, it is important to realise that the Maruti Victoris is the same car under the skin, as is the Maruti Suzuki Grand Vitara. All three SUVs use the same platform and indeed the same strong hybrid powertrain. It really comes down to which brand you prefer and which sales and service infrastructure is more convenient for you.
That said, the Maruti Suzuki Victoris is the newest of the three, and as such has some feature improvements, like a new-gen infotainment system and a more modern set of full-digital dials and ADAS with Level 2 autonomy, although these are only on the top-spec versions.
