Tata Motors has announced potential price reductions on its cars, effective 22nd September 2025, following the revised GST rates. The Tata Nexon could see a cut of up to ₹1.55 lakh, the Curvv up to ₹65,000, and the Safari up to ₹1.45 lakh.

While these are indicative figures, festive demand is expected to rise, so booking now can help secure your preferred Tata car. The exact on road price will be confirmed once Tata releases the official rates, so check with a nearby showroom before finalising.

The Land Rover Range Rover Sport would be a good switch from the Defender. Where the Defender has rugged appeal, the Range Rover Sport is properly posh. The classy design stands out, and the minimalist interior has a very different vibe from the Defender.Other alternatives include the BMW X7 and Mercedes-Benz GLS. Further up the price ladder, there's the Mercedes-Maybach GLS and Range Rover.The Mercedes-Benz G-Class and Lexus LX are also big on price and presence, but are not as comfortable as the options listed above.

Versus your shortlist, Elevate’s rear bench feels upright, while Slavia/Virtus ride firmer and are more driver‑centric for back‑seat comfort.The one thing you give up is ground clearance in comparison to the Elevate. If you have home charging available, the Mahindra XEV 9e Pack 2 makes a lot of sense. Electric cars are extremely smooth in city traffic, offer instant torque and have much lower running costs compared to petrol SUVs.However, if home charging is not easily available and you prefer the convenience of quick refuelling for occasional long trips, the Mahindra XUV 7XO automatic is the safer and simpler choice. It removes the need to plan charging stops and will feel more convenient for highway travel.Choose the XEV 9e if you have home charging and want lower running costs with a smoother city drive. Choose the XUV 7XO automatic if you want maximum convenience for long trips without worrying about charging.
