I am confused between the Grand Vitara Strong Hybrid and the Mild Hybrid automatic. My monthly running is around 1,000 km with a family of four and occasional highway trips. Which one should I choose?

With 1,000km a month, mostly in the city, four on board most of the time and the odd highway run, the Maruti Suzuki Grand Vitara strong-hybrid does make a lot of sense. In heavy stop-start city traffic, it can run purely on electric power and deliver much better efficiency than the mild-hybrid.
Our real-world tests revealed that the strong hybrid manages an incredible 23.77kpl in the city, while the mild-hybrid manages 11.60kpl. Highway efficiency is closer, but the strong-hybrid still wins with 20.39kpl versus the mild-hybrid’s 15.30kpl. The strong-hybrid also has better performance, which will be useful since you often travel with four people on board.
That said, the upfront purchase price of the strong-hybrid is significantly higher and, even with the difference in efficiency, your limited usage means it will take a while to recover the extra cost. If you are on a tight budget, then the mild-hybrid is still a good choice. Its automatic is smooth in city traffic, and performance is adequate for most scenarios.
For your city-heavy use, though, the strong-hybrid automatic lines up best.

If you are planning strong hybrid, do not buy from Suzuki as this is Toyota system..better to buy from Toyota hyryder.

I want to buy the Maruti Suzuki Brezza LXI manual petrol. The facelift is about to launch, but the dealer is currently offering me a Rs. 50,000 discount. Additionally, you can expect a lengthier standard equipment list alongwith some cosmetic enhancements. As a result, the updated Brezza is likely to be a bit pricier than the outgoing version, and there won't be any discount on offer. If that is something that you're comfortable with, then the new Brezza will be worth the wait.But if you're on a tight budget, the Rs 50,000 discount seems like a tidy saving. Also, there's a high chance that you'll get quicker delivery of the outgoing version, while you could need to wait for a few weeks, for the updated Maruti Suzuki car.

The Victoris offers a cabin that looks and feels more premium, and at a similar price, it represents better value for money. Unless you specifically prefer the Maruti's styling or dealership, we'd lean towards the Victoris.The Honda City e:HEV has the more sophisticated hybrid system. Its larger battery and more powerful electric motors mean it spends more time driving on electric power and feels more effortless, especially in city traffic. However, the jump in price from the standard City to the hybrid is substantial because of lower localisation, making it harder to justify on value alone.The final decision comes down to what you prioritise. If you're looking for the most advanced hybrid technology regardless of cost, the Honda City e:HEV is the better engineering package. Which is the best SUV to buy now or is it better to wait for 1-1.5 years since there are going to be a lot of changes in the powertrain landscape? Should I buy a hybrid or a petrol automatic SUV under a budget of Rs. 25 lakh. My daily usage is 50-60 km within the city, including heavy traffic and bad roads, along with highway travel once or twice a month. I am looking for an SUV with a good driving experience, reliability, safety, good features, and a proven track record.

Go for the Brezza, but wait for the new model as it's just a few weeks away. The Brezza is easy to drive in traffic, rides well over broken roads and speed breakers, and the automatic is smooth and stress-free. The cabin is airy, the visibility is good, and Maruti service reach in the city makes ownership simple. For the odd Pune or Panchgani run, it feels stable enough if driven in a relaxed manner. A point to consider if you often go up the ghats with four people and luggage: the 1.5 petrol is smooth but not very strong, so overtakes need a little planning.If that bothers you, the Skoda Kylaq with the automatic is the better alternative. It feels quicker in the hills and in gaps, and the gearbox responds a bit faster, which helps both on the ghats and in stop-go Mumbai traffic. You will trade a slightly firmer ride and a lower city mileage for that extra shove.For mostly city use, though, buying the Brezza is the sensible call.

I am planning to purchase a new SUV. I have shortlisted two vehicles. Toyota Hyryder non-hybrid top model (manual) and Kia Seltos manual top model. Which one should I prefer? My daily running is very less around 10-15 kms.

With a daily running of just 10-15km, there's little benefit in stretching to a strong hybrid, and since you've shortlisted the non-hybrid Hyryder, the Seltos is the more complete package. It offers a more premium cabin, better performance from its naturally aspirated petrol engine, a stronger feature list and an overall more polished driving experience.The Toyota Hyryder still has its strengths. Toyota's reputation for reliability and aftersales support is second to none, and if long-term peace of mind is your top priority, it remains a very sensible choice. However, the non-hybrid petrol doesn't offer a significant efficiency advantage over the Seltos, so you miss out on the biggest reason to buy a Hyryder in the first place.Given your low running, we'd simply choose the SUV that you enjoy driving and living with every day. The Seltos also feels a little more modern inside and delivers a better overall ownership experience without asking you to compromise on reliability.

Please suggest a car between the Hyundai Creta and Kia Seltos in a budget of 16-18 L?

Go for the Kia Seltos. While they are both similar SUVs that use the same engines, the Seltos is a larger vehicle built on a newer platform. It thus offers better space and comfort, as well as new-generation tech, which the Creta will only get when its next-gen model is launched in 2027. It also has a higher-quality interior with better fit and finish. Depending on the engine, gearbox and variant you choose, you may find a few more features in the equivalent Creta compared to the Seltos, but overall value for money, the Seltos should still come out on top, considering its inherent benefits. That said, some reasons you might want to opt for the Creta is because you already own a Hyundai and are already in their system, and have an established relationship with the service centre. Also, if you are planning to exchange your i20, ask the dealer for a loyalty bonus or any other deal they might have; this could swing the purchase in favour of the Creta.
