    Is it worth upgrading my Nissan Terrano, or should I buy a new car?

    The Nissan Terrano is essentially a rebadged Renault Duster, and both models are now quite old. If you are happy with the car and its performance, you can consider upgrading to a new one. However, the Renault Duster will be making a return next month, and Nissan will also have its own version, which it calls the 'Tekton'. 

    We would recommend you wait to see those SUVs and then plan your new purchase.

The MG Comet is a good option for a first-time driver. It is easy to drive, has a spacious cabin, despite being a two-door, and the electric powertrain is smooth and silent enough.However, the 2-doors mean the Comet is not the most practical option in its segment, the boot is small, and the small tyres mean the ride can get choppy. If this is important to you, you could consider the Tata Tiago EV. Otherwise the Comet will do just fine.

    Asked by: Shital Kuwar I’m planning to buy a car under ₹8 lakh with a focus on engine quality, mileage and safety. I’m confused between the Maruti Baleno and Fronx. Is the Fronx truly safer than the Baleno? Since the Fronx has a 4-star rating in Japan NCAP, can we assume similar build quality for the India model? Please guide. The Maruti Suzuki Fronx is based on the Baleno, and mechanically and structurally, both are very similar. Thus, both will be very similar when it comes to safety, too. As for the crash safety rating, yes, the Fronx has secured a 4-star rating in the Japan NCAP crash tests; however, the Baleno has secured a 5-star rating in the BNCAP tests. So the Baleno is safe too, if not safer, you must bear in mind that there could be differences in the export model. As for the engines, both Fronx and Baleno use the same 1.2 liter naturally aspirated unit. However, the Fronx also comes with the choice of a more peppy and lively 1.0 liter turbo petrol engine

    Asked by: Rakesh Yadalam I own a 2015 Hyundai Creta Diesel S+ and have driven it single-handedly for over 1,00,000 km across ten years. I want to replace it with a compact or full-size SUV and have shortlisted the Elevate, Aircross and the new Dustor. I have been evaluating other cars (Harrier, Hector, Victoris and the Tata Sierra) but none have satisfied me. My on-road budget in Bangalore is 20-25 lakh. Please help me choose. A good option to also look at would be the newly unveiled Kia Seltos. It is a new generation model with a lot of changes, an upmarket cabin and even more features added. Kia has also retained the powertrain options so should you want a diesel, you can get that as well. If you want a bigger SUV, the Mahindra XUV 700 will also be updated to the Mahindra XUV 7XO with a refreshed look and new features in January. Although it is worth noting that the XUV will be pushing the Rs 25 lakh mark in terms of price. The Renault Duster is also an iconic model that is set to make a comeback next month so it is definitely worth waiting for.

    Asked by: Krishna Yadav I am planning to upgrade from an XUV700 to a Jeep Compass. Will it truly be an upgrade, and does it make sense? Is it worth it? Moving to a Jeep Compass from an Mahindra XUV 700 will definitely not be an upgrade. The XUV 700 is more powerful, better equipped, a lot more spacious and practical and nicer to drive. The only area where the Compass has an advantage is while off-roading where the suspension performs well and the dimensions help traverse tough terrain. Apart from that one plus point, you will not find the Compass as an upgrade to the XUV 700.
