I’m confused between the Bajaj NS200 and the Yamaha R15M, as both bikes are on my list to purchase. My budget is ₹1,50,000. Please help me decide.

Depending on your usage and the look of the bike you prefer, either of the bikes you are looking at will be a great fit for you. The Bajaj Pulsar NS200 is a great entry-level performance naked bike and will be far more comfortable to use daily due to its upright ergonomics. However, if ridden enthusiastically, fuel economy will take a hit. 

The Yamaha R15 M is the top model in the lineup, and its ex-showroom price is above Rs 1.80 lakh, which means it is quite a bit above your budget. If you do decide to stretch for the R15 M, you will have one of the sweetest, most capable beginner sportbikes around with a great look and feel. However, the latest R15 models are very committed in terms of their riding position. So, if you are going to use it regularly, you will need to put up with a seriously uncomfortable riding position. 

Instead, if you want similar performance, fuel economy and reliability with a good dose of daily practicality and a much lower price tag, check out the Yamaha XSR155. This is essentially an upright, neo-retro version of the R15 and will serve you just as well. 

A test ride of these 3 should help you determine which is the right machine for your needs.

My daily driving is about 50 km, mostly in the city. I am 56 years old and suffer from back pain. Is it good to buy a Mahindra Bolero or a Bolero Neo? Kindly advise.

If you have back pain, you need a car with well-contoured seats and good lumbar support. In this context, the Mahindra Bolero and Mahindra Bolero Neo are not ideal choices. Their seats are not particularly supportive, and the ride quality is on the firmer side, which may aggravate your discomfort.Instead, the Citroen Aircross X is a better fit. The latest updates have improved the interior quality, the seats are comfortable, and the ride quality is excellent. Its suspension setup does an excellent job of ironing out bad roads, making it a comfortable and back-friendly option.

I am planning to buy a reliable SUV with the highest safety ratings. I have always loved the Jeep Compass, but my mind is now inclined toward the Tata Sierra after its launch. While the crash test ratings are not out yet, going by Tata Motors’ recent track record, it is expected to score well on safety. The Sierra is also well equipped, offers a spacious cabin, and comes with multiple powertrain options. The one to go for is the 1.5-litre turbo petrol engine, which is a refined unit. The Jeep Compass currently on sale in India has not received any significant updates in recent times. As a result, the interior now feels dated, especially when viewed alongside newer rivals.

I am looking to buy a new 7-seater EV and am confused between the XEV 9S and the Harrier EV. I plan to go on long trips and am unsure whether to choose an EV or an ICE vehicle. I also prefer a car without a sunroof. Please advise.

Between the two EV options you have shortlisted, only the Mahindra XEV 9S gets a seven-seating configuration. It is good to drive, has a respectable real-world highway range, and its entry-level variants are great value for money. Do note that a panoramic sunroof is available across all variants of the Mahindra XEV9S.Another impressive 7-seater is the Kia Carens Clavis EV. While it is more compact and doesn’t have the same road presence as the XEV9S, and its range is lower, as a seven-seater, it remains an excellent, no-nonsense choice.
