I own a 2012 Hero Pleasure and would like to buy a new scooter. My average monthly running will be about 80 km. I need suggestions for a new scooter, preferably under ₹1.2 lakh.

In the family scooter segment, our current top picks are the Suzuki Access, TVS Jupiter 110 / 125 and Honda Activa 110 /125. All are smooth, decently comfortable and will be fuel efficient as well as reliable in the long run.

If you want a sporty scooter, then the TVS Ntorq 125 is your best bet. Although its fuel economy will be a little lower than the others if it is ridden spiritedly.

Take a test ride of all your preferred options before you decide.

I am confused about choosing between the Thar 4×2 petrol, Tata Curvv, and the Honda City. Please help me decide which one to choose.

That's a very varied set of cars in your shortlist, and it would be hard to pinpoint one without knowing your specific requirements. The Mahindra Thar is a good option if you want a rugged SUV to take on bad roads. If you really like the image, if not its not better than the others as a daily driver, as the ride over medium bumps and patchy city streets is very busy. Also, the refinement, too, will not be as nice as the Honda City in particular. The Tata Curvv will be more refined than the Mahindra Thar and will feel more premium inside, too. Plus, it will have sufficient ground clearance for most bad roads in and about the city. So this is a good buy if very rough roads are not something you encounter. The Honda City would be best if you like to drive, as the handling of a sedan will feel better than the Thar and the Curvv. Also, we assume you live in an area with reasonably good roads.

I have a 2015 Fiat Linea T-Jet sedan petrol car. Now I want to switch to an automatic SUV. My budget is ₹12-15 lakh. My monthly driving is about 150 km in the city and up to 250 km on the highway. I am unable to decide between the Maruti Brezza automatic and the Toyota Urban Cruiser Hyryder. Please suggest which car I should choose.

The Maruti Brezza and Toyota Hyryder are in two different segments, and which one you buy really depends on your specific requirements. The Brezza is a compact SUV that sits within the 4 meter length. Also, it is good for cities with its compact dimensions and a nice, cushy, low-speed ride. However, since you drive more on the highway, the Hyryder would suit you a little better as highway stability is very good, and the ride and handling balance is well set up. Both cars, however, aren't punchy out on the highway. Also, do bear in mind the Toyota Hyryder is essentially the Maruti Grand Vitara, so you could also consider this in case you get a better deal.

I am planning to upgrade my car from Maruti Ciaz and am considering the Maruti Victoris, Grand Vitara, Toyota Hyryder, Honda Elevate or Kia Seltos, with a maximum budget of ₹ 20 lakh. I need an automatic transmission and features such as a panaromic sunroof, good infotainment system, speakers, alloy wheels and ventilated seats. Which car and which variant should I opt for with a petrol automatic transmission? Is there any other apart from the one mentioned above? My weekly running will be around 250 km at max in Delhi NCR region.

Given your requirements, you should consider the Toyota Hyryder, Maruti Suzuki Grand Vitara and Victoris strong hybrid. Since your usage is high, you'll benefit from the exceptional fuel efficiency of the same strong hybrid-petrol powertrain that powers all three. The Hyryder and Grand Vitara mileage is 27.97kpl, while the Victoris mileage is 28.65kpl, which is slightly higher (claimed). All three SUVs also come equipped with all the features you want in their respective top-end trims - a panoramic sunroof, ventilated seats, alloy wheels, a touchscreen infotainment system and much more. We would recommend you go for the Maruti Victoris since it's the newest of the lot. It has the most features and also a 5-star Bharat NCAP crash safety rating, which the other two don't have. As for pricing, the top-spec Victoris ZXI+ (O) string hybrid is priced at Rs 19.99 lakh, while the Grand Vitara Alpha+ (O) costs Rs 19.72 lakh and the Hyryder V is priced at Rs 19.76 lakh (ex-showroom, India).
