My budget is around 12 lakh (possibly through a corporate car lease). I am considering the 2026 Nissan Magnite CVT, Renault Kiger CVT and Honda Amaze CVT. I believe the top variants of all three fit my budget, but I am confused about which one to choose. My usage will be mostly in the city, with occasional trips outside, and I am a new driver.

Mostly city use, a few trips out of town, first-time driver, and Rs 12 lakh to work with, in that situation, we would pick the Nissan Magnite Turbo CVT, ideally the top CVT trim that fits your lease budget. The CVT is seamless and keeps things smooth, which makes stop-and-go traffic much easier, and the turbo has good pull for the highway. It sits higher and gives you a better view of the road, and the steering is light, so squeezing into tight lanes or parking is simple.
A couple of trade-offs to note are that Nissan’s service network is smaller than Honda’s, so check how close the dealer and workshop are in your city. Also, the cabin feels basic in some areas compared to pricier cars.
The Honda Amaze has a very refined engine and smooth CVT, so it is great if you like an easy, relaxed drive. The flip side is that you sit lower and ground clearance is less than the other two, and performance is milder on highways with a full load. The Renault Kiger Turbo CVT is very similar to the Magnite in how it drives. Pick it if you prefer its look or if the Renault dealer is closer or gives a better deal.
Overall, for your city-first use and as a new driver, the Magnite Turbo CVT lines up best.

With 500 km of monthly running and mostly weekend driving, the Hyundai Venue HX5+ is a solid SUV choice. The 1.2-litre engine is very refined and fairly responsive for city use. On the highway, it will cruise comfortably, but it can feel a bit breathless when pushed. If you usually carry only one or two passengers, this shouldn't be an issue. However, if you frequently travel with a full load, you may feel the need for more performance. This is where the Maruti Suzuki Fronx is a better bet. For a similar price, you get a turbo-petrol manual, which offers better performance when required. The cabin is also wider, making it more comfortable for three passengers at the rear; however, it doesn't feel as modern inside as the Venue.Consider the Honda Amaze if you want the convenience of an automatic transmission, but otherwise, the Venue is the better choice.

Hi Autocar, I'm planning to buy my first automatic car with an on-road budget of around Rs. 12 lakh, and I'm a bit confused between these options: Honda Amaze ZX CVT, Tata Punch Accomplished+ S AMT, Skoda Kylaq Signature AT The car will mostly be used for a mix of city driving and occasional highway trips. A few things about my usage: I'm a first-time driver, so I want something easy to drive, and that helps me build confidence. Right now, the car will be used occasionally, but the usage could increase over the next few years. My parents will also be driving it sometimes, so ease of driving and comfort are important. Also, if I go with the Kylaq, is the Signature+ AT really worth paying around Rs. 2 lakh more than the Signature AT? Between your picks, the Skoda Kylaq and Honda Amaze are the best bets for your needs. The Amaze CVT is smooth, the car is compact and easy to manoeuvre, and Honda’s reliability and low maintenance costs make it a stress-free ownership experience. It is also a proper automatic gearbox, unlike the AMT in the Punch, which can feel jerky at low speeds.The Kylaq is more fun to drive and has the most premium feeling of the three. The 1.0 TSI engine also offers the most performance, which will be handy on the highway, but will also consume more fuel in the city. Its torque converter automatic is very smooth shifting and makes driving in the city very easy. What also helps is that you sit higher than the Amaze, which will give you a bit more confidence in tight city traffic. The downside is that Skoda’s service network is not as widespread as Honda’s, and upkeep can cost more. As for the variant, the Signature+ AT adds a couple of useful features like a reversing camera and a larger infotainment screen, but it is not worth paying Rs 2 lakh extra over the Signature AT. Between these two, the Amaze ZX CVT is the better fit for your requirements - easy to drive, reliable, comfortable and hassle-free to own.

I want to purchase a car, considering 3 options- Petrol, Hybrid & EV 1- slavia 1.5 dsg 2- Mahindra BE6 pack2 79kwh 3- Honda City Hybrid My yearly drive is 12.5K km (60% highway and 40% city), and I am planning to keep the car for 15 years. Due to e20 concern, I am hesitant to buy Slavia, as a European car may need only xp95 or xp100, which will have high running cost, so I kept 2 more options of hybrid & EV. Can I put normal E20 to slavia1.5dsg, and with all 3, which one should I pick? All 3 cars are almost 25L on road.
