I own a 2014 Gen1 Renault Duster diesel, and it has been perfect for my family, especially the suspension. It is now showing wear, so I want to replace it. I was waiting for the new Duster, but learned it won’t have a diesel engine. I can wait three months. My shortlisted cars are the upcoming Tata Sierra, new Kia Seltos, and XUV700. Which should I buy?

The first impressions we have of the Tata Sierra are definitely positive as it has a good amount of space, new-age tech and features, and impressive styling. And while Tata cars are re-knowned for their ride comfort, the Sierra is an all-new product, and we would have to wait until we get it out on the road to find out its real-world performance. The verdict will be out soon, so it would be advisable to wait for the review before taking a call.

In case you aren't impressed, the Mahindra XUV700 has an excellent diesel engine and a lot more space as well.

As for the Tata Sierra, it’s a very appealing SUV thanks to its design, space, and premium cabin. However, the 1.5 diesel in the Sierra isn’t the most refined or punchy in the segment, and the pricing of the higher variants, especially the autos, will stretch well past the upper end of your budget. Also, the Sierra is more of a lifestyle SUV than an efficiency-focused one.Given your budget and priorities — safety, fuel efficiency, comfort, and features — a diesel compact SUV still fits best. Asked by: N manjunath I want to buy a powerful bike like the Duke 390 or one of the Royal Enfield 650s, but I do not have the budget right now. For the time being, I want to buy a bike or scooter that is smooth and vibration-free, as smoothness is my only major criterion. I feel the Suzuki Access 125 is the right choice. In the scooter space, the Suzuki Access is a great option because it has a turbine smooth engine, has cemented its reputation for reliability and is quite practical and comfortable too.
