I want an automatic transmission petrol SUV with a budget of ₹20 lakh. I am confused between the new Kia Seltos HTX (A) and the Tata Sierra Accomplished. The Seltos fits within my budget and offers more features than the Sierra Adventure Plus, but I don’t like the front fascia of the HTX variant with its halogen indicator lamps. For the Sierra, I would have to stretch my budget by about ₹2 lakh, and although it offers many features over the Seltos, I have read reviews mentioning alignment issues (car drifting left), rattling noises under acceleration, electrical issues like the sunroof not opening, and concerns over fit and finish. If I am spending around ₹22 lakh, I don’t want these issues. I am confused between these two - please suggest.

For you, we would recommend the Kia Seltos. You only seem not like the Kia for the front end look, and we think you should not override the other bits you like about it. Also, as you have pointed out, it makes more rational sense, since as you go higher up the variants, you get similar features on the Seltos at a lower price point than the Tata Sierra

Moreover, concerning your other worry about service quality and reliability, given the two brands' past track record, the Kia would be the safer bet.

Hi, I am stuck between two cars with specific models: Tata Safari Adventure+ (Petrol, Automatic TC) at ₹22.62 lakh and Kia Carens Clavis 2025 model HTX(O), DVT petrol at ₹22.06 lakh (I am getting ₹2.5 lakh discount for the 2025 model in Gravity Grey). I plan to keep the car for the next 15 years. I live in a nearby town of Bangalore and don’t drive inside the city much. It's mostly towns and highways, with occasional city visits to malls. Average driving is less than 1000 km monthly. The 7-seater requirement is just a few times a year (when I club my sister's family).

Between the two, the Kia Carens Clavis HTX(O) petrol automatic is the better choice. It will feel easier to drive on highways and around town, and since you only need the third row a few times a year, its seating layout will work perfectly well without carrying the size and weight of a larger SUV every day.The Tata Safari does offer stronger road presence and a higher seating position, but it is a bigger and heavier vehicle to live with on a daily basis. Given your limited running and the strong Rs 2.5 lakh discount you are getting on the Carens Clavis, it also represents better overall value.

I am planning to buy a 7-seater, and my running is not very regular. Sometimes, for a long time, I don’t drive much, but when I do, I may cross 1000 km in a single trip. I need good space in the 3rd row as well. Which one should I prefer: Mahindra XUV 7XO or Tata Safari? I need full comfort and luxury, and my budget is around ₹35 lakh.

Between the two, the Tata Safari works slightly better as a family-oriented seven-seater. Its second row can slide forward and backwards, which helps create more legroom for passengers sitting in the third row. This flexibility makes the last row easier to use for adults on longer journeys. The Mahindra XUV 7XO, on the other hand, offers stronger performance and more features, especially in the higher variants. It is a nicer car to drive with stronger performance, but the third row is better suited to children or shorter journeys compared to the Safari. If your priority is maximum comfort for all passengers and better third-row usability, the Safari Accomplished+ diesel automatic is the better choice. If you prefer stronger performance and more tech features, the XUV 7XO AX7L diesel automatic is the one to consider.

Hi everyone, I am from Kerala, Alleppey. I am confused between the new-gen Kia Seltos Turbo Petrol GTX A and the Kia Carens Clavis EV HTX E. Both options are available at a price of ₹25 lakh (the Clavis EV is available with a good discount, so the price is almost matched). I need genuine suggestions. I considered many vehicles and finally shortlisted these two. I am not exploring any other options as of now. We are now a 3-person family, but occasionally, 5 to 6 people may travel together. I liked the middle and back row seats of the Carens Clavis EV. The 3rd row might be useful after 3 years. I built a new home, and a 3-phase connection is available. A facility for daily charging at home is available. Solar is being installed, so literally, charging will be taken care of. There is no daily travel. Less than 1000 km monthly travel. Mostly up-and-down 200 km on weekends or 2 times in a month. I am not planning for any long travel of 400 or 500 km at a stretch in the future also. Other travels are in the city only, within a 30 km range. I need good power. I enjoyed the EV's instant torque and the tuning of power in the Clavis EV (BE6 and XEV 9E felt overpowered for me). I plan to keep the car for 8 to 10 years. If both cars are reliable, I was thinking why I should waste money on petrol in the future if I can charge my EV at home almost every day. I may not even use an outside charger, maybe rarely. I was almost settled with the Seltos, but I was tempted by the EV after the test drive. It felt good. So please help me. Thanks in advance.

Go for the Kia Carens Clavis EV. It is a fantastic, well-rounded and sensible car. Like you rightly mentioned, it offers the flexibility of seating 6 or 7 passengers occasionally, while being compact enough to drive around in town. The electric motor is very smooth (far smoother than any similarly priced ICE car), zippy, and this Kia car is very efficient.Furthermore, charging and maintenance costs will be much lower, and its comprehensive battery and motor warranty adds to the peace of mind.
