I am unable to decide between the Honda Amaze ZX CVT, Mahindra XUV 3XO MX2 Pro, Maruti Suzuki Baleno, Hyundai Exter, Nissan Magnite, and Skoda Kylaq Signature. My budget is ₹10 lakh (ex-showroom). I am primarily looking for a car with a good automatic transmission and comfortable interiors. My driving will be around 60% in the city and occasional highway trips, and my monthly running is less than 800 km. Which of these cars would you recommend?

We would suggest looking at the Skoda Kylaq. It offers a comfortable ride, has good space for four adults, and the torque converter automatic transmission is smooth and easy to drive in the city. Its compact dimensions also make it convenient to park and manoeuvre in tight spaces.

If seating five adults regularly is important, the Mahindra XUV 3XO makes more sense thanks to its wider cabin. It also offers a comfortable ride and a smooth torque converter automatic. The only drawback is the relatively small boot space.

The Honda Amaze would otherwise have been a good choice thanks to its smooth CVT transmission, which works very well in city traffic. However, the ride quality is not the most comfortable compared to some of the other options you are considering.

The Maruti Suzuki Baleno and Hyundai Exter are offered with AMT gearboxes, which are not as smooth or sophisticated as the torque converter or CVT automatic options available in some of the other cars on your list. AMTs tend to feel jerky during gear shifts, especially in slow-moving traffic.

Spoiled by the ride and handling, and the torque characteristics of the Punto MJD for the past 13 years, I am now looking to buy a new automatic car, as the Punto spends most of its time at the FNG. My usage is 70% city driving and approximately 5,000-6,000 km per year. My city drives are mostly office commutes of 15–20 km a day in light traffic (not bumper-to-bumper). Among the Kylaq AT, Kushaq 1.0 AT, and Kushaq 1.5 DSG (MY25 with discount), which one can match the solid, dynamic, and abuse-friendly nature of my Punto? I also need a reliable service network, so I am avoiding Citroën.

They don't make them like they used to, and few new cars today can replicate the feel of your Punto. That said, you're on the right track with Skoda car, and the Kushaq 1.0 TSI AT is probably the best of the lot. It's more spacious than the Kylaq while not being large enough to be cumbersome, and unlike the MY25 1.5 TSI option, you're getting the latest facelifted Kushaq here, with all the benefits, including the updated AC with a variable-geometry compressor. Plus, since your usage is 70% in the city, you'll appreciate the smoother 8-speed torque converter, compared to the 7-speed DSG of the 1.5.You will like the way the Kushaq feels tough over bad patches and speed breakers. The body control is tight and the steering has some weight, so it gives you confidence in a way few new cars do. There's no diesel here, but coming from the Punto’s MJD, the 1.0 TSI will feel sufficiently strong. Skoda service has improved but still, ask around about the nearest workshop that you would be using, and take the longest warranty you can.

I have visited multiple showrooms and shortlisted two options: the Mahindra XUV 3XO AX7L Diesel Manual and the Hyundai Venue SX(O) Diesel Automatic. I have ruled out the Kia Sonet due to its outdated cabin and features, and the Tata Nexon due to concerns about after-sales service. I commute around 70 km daily for office, with an equal mix of city and highway driving. I am looking for a feature-rich car with good mileage and low maintenance. Hi, I am confused between buying the Kia Seltos diesel, which I love for its interior and power and which gives around 15 km/l mileage, and the Toyota Hyryder, which involves a slight design compromise but offers 22+ km/l mileage. My daily running is around 70 km, including both city traffic and highway cruising. Also, please share if there is even the slightest possibility of a Kia Seltos hybrid coming next year, as I would be happy to wait.

Its torque converter is much smoother than an AMT or DCT, so city driving feels easy, and performance from the 1.0 TSI makes highway overtakes effortless. The Kylaq has a 5-star crash score from Bharat NCAP and feels steady at highway speeds, which builds confidence. It also rides well over broken patches, so you are not tossed around.Two things to keep in mind: while the front seats are comfy and supportive, space in the back seat is a bit tight. It makes up for it with a large boot and a low loading lip. If you want more space, look at the Nissan Magnite Tekna Turbo CVT, which has a 5-star safety rating from Global NCAP.Overall, for highway-heavy use with safety at the top, the Kylaq lines up best in your budget.
