What are the pros and cons of getting an ECU remap for a Honda City diesel?

Should I get a Quantum ECU remap for my Honda City i-DTEC. What are the pros and cons? What other essential mods must be done in addition to ECU remap, like tyres, brakes, etc.?

The 1.5-litre diesel engine in the Honda City has robust internals and should easily allow you to extract around 10-15 percent more power and performance with a remap.

A remap also ends up freeing more usable power from the engine, thereby making it run smoother. So, for the same vehicle speed, a remapped engine would spin at a lower RPM, thus consuming lesser fuel too.

You could get the Quantum remap for your Honda City from Delhi-based GT Tunerz. While the power gains would not be substantial to warrant an updated set of brakes, the stock 175-section tyres should be upsized to a 195mm profile so as to offer better grip and control.

We would also advise you to bear a few things in mind while getting the remap calibrated. Firstly, it is important to ensure that the exhaust gas temperature (EGT) remains within reasonable limits to prevent any undue engine damage in the long run, and it’s also important to not work the engine too hard at full throttle.
