The 18th edition of the arduous Raid de Himalaya has been called off after the tragic passing of Subhamoy Paul, an extreme Moto competitor who crashed on day three of the rally. The organisers have subsequently called off the event with the entire convoy of riders and officials heading back to Manali.

Paul was astride a KTM 500 EXC with competition No 208 and the unfortunate incident occurred near Chhatru village – around 17 kilometres from Gramphoo in Himachal Pradesh. Paul reportedly died on the spot due to a severe head injury despite having received first aid and being airlifted to Manali by the support chopper.

The veteran off-road rider was 49 years old.
