You can get the HX6+ variant of the Verna with the 1.5-litre naturally aspirated petrol-manual powertrain, which is pleasant to drive, stable on highways, and paired with a comfortable, soft suspension setup. Being a Hyundai car, it also has reasonable maintenance costs.The Hyundai Verna has also scored a perfect 5-star rating in the Global NCAP crash tests, so you can rest assured about safety. The Skoda Slavia is due for an update very soon, but in this budget you will have to settle for entry-level variants that don't offer much equipment. The Verna, on the other hand, will get you LED headlamps, front ventilated seats, a single-pane sunroof and others. All things considered, the Hyundai Verna is the best choice for your requirements.

And being a sedan, it will feel nicer to drive than the Kia car, and it is likely to be more efficient too. The Hyundai Verna Mileage is up to 13.5kpl in real-world driving. The Verna price starts at Rs 10.99 lakh (ex-showroom).Pick the Kia Seltos HTK IVT for its elevated driving position, more modern interior, and high ground clearance. I currently own a Honda Jazz and am looking for an upgrade. My confusion is between the Hyundai Verna 1.5 NA MT HX6 Plus and the Kia Seltos HTK, the latter being my wife's choice. My running will be around 5,000-6,000 km per year. I did a test drive of both cars. I was sceptical about the Verna's ground clearance, but I drove it over bad patches and large speed breakers, and it did not scrape at all. The overall ride also felt smoother in the Verna than in the Seltos. My only concern is whether ground clearance will become an issue when travelling with luggage on longer trips. While the Seltos interior looks more modern, the Verna variant lacks some features found in the Seltos HTK Plus.

Pick the Verna 1.5 manual. You already prefer its smoother ride, and with just 5-6k km a year, the extra height of the Seltos will not make much difference.Your ground-clearance worry is fair, but it should not be a deal-breaker. The Hyundai Verna clears most big speed breakers if you go slow, and its boot is larger than the Seltos, so you can take more luggage. Even when loaded, it will be fine on regular highways and town roads. The Hyundai Verna Mileage is up to 13.5kpl in real-world driving. It only becomes tricky with five adults, a fully stuffed boot, and broken village tracks. Slow down and take tall breakers a bit diagonally, and it won’t scrape. The Hyundai Verna price starts at Rs 10.99 lakh (ex-showroom).The Verna HX6 Plus also gives you more of the useful kit you noticed missing on the Seltos HTK, and the sedan will feel more engaging to drive. It will also be more fuel-efficient.Do note that if you or your parents value easy step-in height and an elevated driving position, the Kia Seltos suits that better. But for comfort, features and your actual use, the Verna is the smarter upgrade from a Jazz.

I am planning to buy a new car. I absolutely love my current car, but I no longer find the driver’s seat very comfortable, I feel the suspension could be better, and the 1.2-litre Hyundai engine lacks serious power. The cars I am currently considering are: Mahindra BE 6 Pack Three Hyundai Verna 1.5 Turbo HX(O) Kia Seltos 1.5 Turbo (variant yet to be finalised) My usage mainly involves driving to work in Bengaluru, along with at least one weekly night drive for pleasure. I also take occasional drives around Bengaluru every month and go on longer trips once every quarter. I genuinely enjoy driving and the freedom that owning a car gives me. I am not particularly fond of long motorcycle rides, although I do own an Harley-Davidson X440. The reasons behind my shortlist are: I do not want an ordinary car; I want something with a strong wow factor. I like all three cars from a design and styling perspective, which is important to me. All three felt comfortable, with my comfort ranking being: Seltos > Verna > BE 6. However, I found the high-speed stability of all three to be just average and expected better. I have admired the Mahindra BE 6 ever since it was announced, but I am unsure about EV practicality in my situation. I live in a rented apartment with only a 3kW sanctioned electricity load, and I am also uncertain about charging infrastructure. Additionally, Mahindra’s warranty recommendation of charging at least 25% through AC charging concerns me slightly. I would have also considered the Volkswagen Virtus, but I feel its interior quality does not justify the price. Could you please help me decide which option would make the most sense for my needs?

It lines up with what you value and what you felt in your test drives.As you mentioned, the Seltos' seat is the most comfortable; the 1.5 turbo is quick, feels strong and has that oomph that you're looking for. Also, being the newest car, its interior quality is a step up compared to the other options listed.Of course, being a taller car, its stability and handling prowess aren't as good as the Hyundai Verna 1.5 turbo DCT, which will give you a relatively sportier driving experience due to its low-set seating. The Hyundai Verna Mileage is up to 13.5kpl in real-world driving, while the DCT claims 20.6kpl as per ARAI.We would advise you against the Mahindra BE 6, especially when you're currently residing in a rented flat with no assured socket at your parking, and even though Bengaluru has many public chargers, you can't solely rely on public charging. You could also check out the new Renault Duster 1.3 Turbo before finalising the Seltos.
