The Dune concept will sport crossover elements

Volkswagen will showcase this radical looking Beetle concept at the Detroit Motor Show, called the Beetle Dune.

It sports a lot of crossover elements, like its flared wheel arches with black cladding, modified bumpers and side sills. Then there's the chunky set of wheels with the rugged-looking rims.

Under the hood is the familiar 207bhp 2.0-litre, four-cylinder turbocharged engine, mated to a six-speed DSG dual-clutch transmission. On the inside, the glove box makes way for a passenger-side handle.

There's a host of bright, yellow accents around the cabin as well to give it a more sporty air.
VW has stated that it is currently only evaluating the Dune concept and it may even never make production if the company thinks otherwise. But if VW decides to make a production version of the Dune, expect it as early as end-2015.
