The next generation of Honda’s Civic is set to make its public debut at the LA motor show 2015. The next-gen car was previewed earlier this year with the Civic concept at the New York motor show.

The test mule caught testing on the road was seen in minimal camouflage and carried over many of the styling cues from the concept such as the front grille, headlamp design and the tail-light cluster. The car in question, a two-door coupé version of the sedan wore a light camouflage around the headlamps and tail-lights and on the C pillar.

The next-gen Civic is set to be powered by a choice of naturally aspirated and turbocharged petrol engines. In an earlier article we had mentioned that the new Civic would be powered by a 1.5-litre turbo-petrol VTEC motor. Now the engine is expected to be joined by a smaller 1.0-litre turbocharged unit as well as an updated version of the 2.0-litre naturally aspirated unit that powers the standard Civic. The turbocharged engines are expected to be offered only with a CVT gearbox while the naturally aspirated motor will be offered with a choice of a six-speed manual or a CVT unit.

The standard Civic coupe will be followed by a more performance-oriented Civic Si model. It could also likely spawn the next-generation of the Civic Type-R, but expect it to come only towards the end of the model’s life.

The Civic Coupe will be showcased alongside the Civic sedan that was revealed in September this year.
