Mercedes is set to expand its SUV line-up even further with the introduction of a new SUV-coupe, the GLC Coupe. Set to launch sometime this year, the all-new SUV coupe will create a new segment of SUV-Coupes. It will be positioned between the GLC and GLE as a more affordable and sporty SUV model to the Mercedes-AMG GLE43 Coupe – erstwhile Mercedes GLE 450 AMG Coupe.

The GLC Coupe, while sharing the same underpinnings as the standard GLC, will feature sportier styling cues to go with its coupe image along with featuring the family rear end styling seen on other Mercedes Coupes. The cabin too will be near identical to the standard GLC, though rear headroom will be tighter because of the coupe roofline.

Under the hood, the GLC Coupe is expected to share the 2.0-litre petrol and 2.1-litre diesel engines from the standard GLC. Mercedes is expected to initially only offer the petrol model wearing the GLC 300 badge, with the diesel joining the line-up at a later stage. Also likely could be the AMG GLC43 powered by the AMG-tuned 3.0-litre twin-turbo V6.

While there is no official word on pricing, the GLC Coupe will cost a premium over its standard sibling and will have no direct rivals.
