Mahindra Reva is reportedly working on a higher-powered version of its e2o electric vehicle. This more powerful electric car will be launched first in Europe before making its way here.

According to sources, the carmaker is also developing a few high-performance powertrain options. The higher-spec powertrains fall in two groups – mid (50-60 kW or 67-81bhp) and high (80 kW or 107bhp and above). Some of them are being worked on jointly by Mahindra and Mahindra Reva engineers. The high-performance powertrains are being engineered to power large vehicles such as SUVs and trucks.

The e2o hasn’t been very well received since launch owing partly to the high price tag. The carmaker is looking to boost sales with a new approach whereby prospective customers could get to drive the car for a few days before buying it. The manufacturer hopes the new strategy will help buyers understand the value proposition of the e2o electric vehicle better.
