De Tomaso, the Italian marquee, is up for sale. Best remembered for the Pantera, a Ford-powered supercar, the company has run into financial trouble and has approached several automakers to see if they are interested in buying the company.

De Tomaso had a good deal of success with the Pantera, which was a supercar more affordable than the average Ferrari. But the run of success ended as it failed to keep up with its bigger competitors. In 2009, former Fiat CEO Gianmario Rossignolo revived the troubled company with a fresh influx of money and the company planned to launch three new models. But it soon ran into financial difficulties after introducing the Deauville concept at the 2011 Geneva Motor Show.

More than 900 workers in the company have not been paid for months now and their only hope is for a big name to take over the ailing automaker.
