Last month we carried a story that stated Volvo's decision to launch a slew of new models in the Indian market. Now the company has announced the launch of the petrol version of the V40 Cross Country to take place on April 20, 2015.

The V40 Cross Country Petrol is expected to get a 1.6-litre petrol engine under the hood and is expected to command a sub-Rs 30lakh pricing. When launched the V40 Cross Country Petrol will have no direct competitors, but will look to rival the Mercedes A-class.

Other new models slated for launch in the domestic market are the petrol variant of the S60 sedan in the form of the S60 T6, and a standard hatchback version of the V40 Cross Country designated as only the V40. The S60 T6 is expected to get a 1.6-litre turbocharged petrol engine generating about 304bhp while the standard V40 is expected to receive the same engines as the V40 Cross Country. The carmaker has already confirmed the launch of the new XC90 for September.
