Toyota has unveiled a new top-spec Fortuner Diamond Edition, which will initially be sold in South American markets.

The Fortuner Diamond Edition is based on the top-spec variant sold in markets like Argentina, where it is called the SW4. Visual changes on the Toyota SW4 Diamond Edition include a unique 18-inch alloy wheel design – which actually looks quite similar to the one on the Jeep Compass Trailhawk – slightly darkened chrome accents on the grille and a faux-brushed aluminium-finish skid plate on the front bumper.

On the inside, it gets tan leather seats and a faux-bronze finish on the centre console. Toyota has also added a 10-speaker JBL sound system and a unique white-and-gold finish key fob on this SW4 Diamond edition. There are no mechanical changes. This means that the SUV is sold with the same 2.7-litre petrol motor as the standard model sold in the South American market.

In India, Toyota sells the Fortuner with a 166hp, 2.7-litre petrol and 177hp, 2.8-litre diesel engine options, with it taking on the likes of the Ford Endeavour, the Isuzu MU-X and the Jeep Compass. There is no news, yet, on whether Toyota will bring the Diamond Edition in India anytime soon.
