Rolls-Royce is in line to sell 4,000 cars this year, a new record for the company. Earlier this year, Rolls Royce had announced a 30 percent rise in sales for the first six months of the year, with the Phantom, Ghost and Wraith models making up for most of the demand in Europe.

Although BMW does not give out the financial figures for its super luxury division, it is estimated that the company will hit 500 million pound (approximately Rs 50,039 crore) profit mark for this year

Talking about the future models from the company, a Rolls-Royce source told our sister publication Autocar UK, that the luxury carmaker is now financing its own product development from profits, and even if the Goodwood-based company went ahead with the SUV project, it would not have to borrow money from the BMW Group to fund it. Adding further, the source also told them that it was very challenging to imagine a Rolls-Royce in the SUV format, but the latest sketches and design look very promising.

The 102EX-prototype, which was powered by a 145Kw and a large 71kWh battery was sent out on a world tour, however Rolls-Royce did not receive even a single request from customers to put the car onto the production lines. The cost and fully engineered plan to build a diesel engine was also not accepted with warmth by existing and potential customers, and had to be killed off.

The source, however, confirmed that the next-generation Phantom and Ghost models will be available with a BMW-sourced hybrid transmission.
