Land Rover has confirmed that a convertible version of the Range Rover Evoque will go on sale in 2016. The drop-top version of the SUV has been announced at the Geneva motor show 2015. It has been seen in official images of a test car being driven through the tunnels beneath London. Land Rover first showcased a concept of the Range Rover Evoque cabriolet in 2012.

The production Evoque Convertible will be built alongside the five-door and coupé variants at Land Rover’s Halewood plant. Land Rover engineers will have worked to solve any issues with body rigidity and handling which have arisen through the loss of the Evoque’s roof; it’s not yet known whether the move has hindered the Evoque’s off-road capabilities.

The facelifted Evoque range features new LED headlight designs and a refreshed engine line-up, including four-cylinder diesel units from Jaguar Land Rover’s Ingenium range. The soft-top Evoque is also likely to get revised rear-end styling, with the most prominent addition being a rear-mounted lip spoiler.
