The updated Range Rover for 2017 has been unveiled. The refreshed SUV line-up will get new driver assistance systems in three specification levels, adding features such as lane departure warning, parking assistance, autonomous emergency braking and driver fatigue monitoring.
Higher-spec cars gain adaptive cruise control and a traffic sign recognition system that adjusts cruise control speed to the posted limit. 'Low traction launch' is also available to help pull away from a standstill on slippery surfaces by controlling the torque applied by the driver.
Inside, the 2017 Range Rover receives JLR’s InControl Touch Pro infotainment system with a 10.0-inch touchscreen display. Buyers will be able specify an optional Pro Pack to gain remote control of features such as climate settings and the car’s door locks. Controlled via a smartphone app, the system can offer door-to-door navigation and learn a user’s regular routes, and it can alert owners if the alarm is triggered. A range of finishes and 19 new colours will also be available, designed by JLR’s Special Vehicle Operations division.
This time, JLR has added its supercharged 3.0-litre V6 to the 2017 range. The 340hp, 450Nm unit is shared with the Jaguar F-Type and accelerates the SUV from 0-60mph in 7.1sec. It slots between the Range Rover’s existing diesel V6 and V8 in the global line-up. A new SVAutobiography Dynamic model will also be introduced as a sharper alternative to the Range Rover’s incumbent range-topper, the SVAutobiography.
It uses the same 549.7hp supercharged V8 as that car, giving it a 0-60mph time of 5.1sec, but gains more driver-focused chassis settings and an 8mm lower ride height. It also gets a few cosmetic tweaks, including Graphite Atlas-finished side vents and grille, while inside it gets diamond-quilted leather seats.
Expect the updated Range Rover line-up to come to India sometime next year.
