Nissan India has announced a price increase of 3% on all of its Nissan and Datsun models to “minimise the impact of escalating input costs”.

The price hike will come into effect in January 2016 and Arun Malhotra, managing director of Nissan India, said it will help maintain the manufacturer’s standing in the market.

“The revision of prices will soften the negative impact and help the company stay competitive,” Malhotra said.

Nissan’s lineup in India includes the Micra, Sunny and Terrano, and the Japanese manufacturer will launch the X-Trail at the Delhi Auto Expo next year, before previewing a high-performance contactless wireless charging system for electric vehicles at the Geneva motor show.

Mercedes-Benz and Hyundai also recently announced price rises for 2016, citing increased input costs as a reason.
