Porsche has launched a new ‘S’ variant of the Cayenne Electric in global markets. The S variant slots between the base 442hp Cayenne Electric and the top-spec 1,156hp Turbo.
- Cayenne S Electric gets 113kWh, dual-motor powertrain
- 0-100kph in 3.8 seconds (claimed), WLTP-tested range of 653km
- Visually differentiated by 20-inch alloy wheels and Volcano Grey skid plates
Porsche Cayenne S Electric battery and range
113kWh AWD setup generates up to 666hp
Like the two other Cayenne Electric variants, the S comes fitted with a 113kWh battery pack wired up to dual motors – the rear motor is oil-cooled for better performance – that funnel 544hp to all four wheels. When using launch control, the Cayenne S Electric’s power output rises to 666hp. 0-100kph is pegged at 3.8 seconds, and Porsche claims a top speed of 250kph.
Coming to range, the Cayenne S Electric can travel up to a WLTP-claimed 653km on a single charge – the highest in the variant line-up. Speaking of charging, the Cayenne S Electric’s battery can be juiced with up to 400kW of DC power, enabling a 10-80 percent charge in under 16 minutes.
Optional performance equipment
Porsche’s optional Sport Chrono package for the Cayenne S Electric adds a push-to-pass function that deploys 666hp for 10 seconds at a time, and a Track mode that preconditions the battery for optimal performance on circuits. Optional goodies that were previously offered only for the Cayenne Turbo Electric can also be specced for the S, like active suspension, carbon ceramic brakes and torque vectoring.
Porsche Cayenne S Electric exterior and interior
On the outside, the only differentiators on the Cayenne S Electric are its unique 20-inch wheels and slightly revised bumpers with chunky Volcano Grey skid plates. 13 exterior colour options are available for the Cayenne S Electric.
The Cayenne S Electric’s interior is expectedly identical to the SUV’s other variants, but Porsche does offer a bevy of colour schemes for personalisation. Creature comforts include two-tone leather upholstery, 14-way powered and ventilated front seats, 4-zone climate control, ambient lighting, a 14.5-inch curved infotainment touchscreen, a digital driver’s display, a 14-speaker Bose sound system, a wireless charging pad, and more.
In typical Porsche fashion, there’s plenty of room for upgrading the interior equipment, like a 14.9-inch passenger display and a heads-up display with augmented reality (AR) tech. The Sport Chrono package even adds a stopwatch on the top of the dash.
