New Mini Cooper S Convertible exterior design
Round headlight units with DRL rings, standard 18-inch alloy wheels
Along with the folding roof, the two-door convertible distinguishes itself from the Cooper S with more traditional Union Jack tail-lights and a tailgate that drops down and can hold up to 80kg in weight, turning into a temporary seat. But both get circular headlights with DRLs, red ‘S’ badging, an octagonal outline for the front grille and air dam, which are split by a body-coloured trim, and plastic cladding all around. Mini is offering 18-inch alloy wheels as standard with the new convertible car.

New Mini Cooper S Convertible interior and features
Massage-enabled driver's seat, Harman Kardon sound system
Apart from the new knitted black-and-beige colour scheme for the dashboard, everything else appears familiar. Features like the circular 9.4-inch OLED touchscreen with wireless Android Auto and Apple CarPlay, powered front seats with massaging function for the driver, head-up display, Harman Kardon sound system, wireless charger, ambient light projection on the dashboard and rear-view camera are carried over.
The electrically operated fabric roof opens and closes in 18 seconds and 15 seconds, respectively, at speeds of up to 30kph. Mini has also brought back the ‘sunroof mode’, which lets you slide back the top partially. Boot capacity stands at 215 litres, which gets reduced to 160 litres with the roof down.
New Mini Cooper S Convertible engine and gearbox
204hp 2-litre turbo-petrol motor
Under the hood is the 204hp, 300Nm 2-litre 4-cylinder turbo-petrol engine, mated to a 7-speed dual-clutch automatic gearbox, which sends power to the front wheels; a manual transmission option is not available. The 0-100kph sprint takes 6.9 seconds (0.3 seconds slower than the standard hatchback), topping out at 237kph. Mini claims the convertible delivers a mileage of 16.82kpl. Notably, the new Cooper S Convertible could be brand's final ICE-powered drop-top before the brand goes fully electric.
