Mercedes-Benz India has kicked off 2010 on a strong note by achieving its highest ever monthly sales. The company sold 403 cars in January of which the New E-class contributed a major chunk with 245 units being sold. The company also sold 130 units of the C-Class, and 22 units of the S-Class.

The New E-class has become very popular amongst luxury car buyers and its sales have also gotten a boost thanks to the different variants on offer, namely the E350, E350CDI, E250 V6 and E250CDI. Mercedes is keen to take on its arch rival BMW which had claimed the top spot in the luxury car market during 2009. Launching multiple variants of each new model is the new mantra at Mercedes and this strategy appears to be bearing fruit already.

“Our sales numbers are a result of our customer appreciating the fascination of the Mercedes-Benz brand and we have reinforced our multi-pronged approach to heighten the customer experience,” says Wilfried Aulbur, MD & CEO, Mercedes-Benz India.

Mercedes has been growing and upgrading its dealership network and now has 50 touch points across 25 cities. The company has grown its product line-up and in January alone, it launched seven new variants taking its total model range to 38 models across 10 product segments, which is the largest luxury car product range in the country.
