Mercedes-Benz India has launched the AMG CLE 53 Coupe at Rs 1.35 crore, ex-showroom. Slotting above the CLE 300 Cabriolet, the hotter coupe version carries a premium of Rs 20 lakh. The new CLE coupe takes AMG's India line-up to a total of 10 models.

11.9-inch portrait touchscreen, AMG-spec steering wheel
Inside, the cabin is largely shared with the Mercedes CLE 300, featuring an 11.9-inch portrait infotainment screen, a 12.3-inch digital driver’s display and three central AC vents. The coupe, though, adds an AMG-specific 3-spoke steering wheel wrapped in Alcantara with red stitching, plus two extra touch controls. More CLE 53 features include wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, 64-colour ambient lighting, a Burmester sound system, powered seats with memory, a wireless charger, and a head-up display.

3.0-litre twin-turbo straight-six married to 9AT
The main highlight of any AMG model is its engine, and the CLE 53 Coupe is no different. The CLE 53 AMG has a 3.0-litre twin-turbo straight-six paired with a 48V mild-hybrid system, producing 449hp and 560Nm (+40Nm with Overboost). A 9-speed torque converter gearbox channels the output to all four wheels via Mercedes’ 4Matic+ system. The CLE 53 AMG does 0-100kph in a claimed 4.2 seconds, and goes on to a top speed of 250kph, or 270kph with the optional AMG Performance Package.
The CLE 53 has no direct rivals in India, but fits between BMW's M2 (Rs 1.03 crore) and M4 (Rs 1.56 crore) on price, although it is less powerful than both.
