Mahindra has introduced a six-speed automatic gearbox on the 1.99-litre diesel-engined version of the XUV500, which is currently being sold only in the Delhi-NCR. Mahindra had introduced the smaller engine in Delhi due to the ongoing ban on diesel cars with engines over 2,000cc. The automatic transmission is available in three variants of the XUV500 – the W6 AT, the W8 AT and W10 AT.
In the automatic variants, the engine continues to produce 140hp of peak power and 320Nm of peak torque as in the manual car, but gets a few tweaks to the equipment list. The automatic variants miss out on the Micro-Hybrid start/stop function which is offered on the manual variants. The W10 AT doesn’t get the brake-regeneration feature and the W8 misses out on the push-button start feature. The W6 AT variant, however, comes with Electronic Stability Program, which the manual W6 doesn’t get. The other features are the same as that of the manual counterparts.
The Aisin-sourced automatic unit is already available on the 2.2-litre version of the XUV500 which is sold in other parts of the country.
Prices for the automatic and manual versions of the XUV500 W6, W8 and W10 are listed below (ex-showroom, Delhi):
