Mahindra has crossed a major milestone on October 12, 2018 by producing 70 lakh (seven million) units from its manufacturing facilities in Chakan, Nasik, Haridwar, Zaheerabad, Kandivali and Igatpuri. This comes three years after the 50 lakh mark was achieved in 2015, and six years after the 40 lakh mark was hit in 2012.
The news was revealed by the CEO of Mahindra Vehicle Manufacturers Limited, Vijay Kalra, who said concerning the momentous occasion,” Proud moment for us at Mahindra Automotive. Had opportunity to witness 7 millionth vehicle rolling. Sincere thanks to our customers, channel/supplier partners & the Mahindra family.”
The 7 millionth (70 lakh) car to roll out from the production line was a top-end Mahindra Scorpio in white. To mark the event the car was decorated with garlands and carried a board with ‘70 lakh celebration’ written on it. The car was driven out by Vijay Kalra. A Mahindra Marazzo finished in blue and also decorated with garlands was brought out right after the Scorpio, carrying a board saying ‘70,00,001’, symbolising a new phase for the brand.
Mahindra has plans to increase production with the introduction of the Y400 and S201 in the near future.
