After officially revealing the Jeep Renegade facelift, the American brand has now taken the wraps off the more off-road capable Trailhawk version of the SUV.

Compared to the Limited trim (which is the highest of the standard variants), the Renegade Trailhawk gets cosmetic changes to the outside and inside, and a Selec-Terrain off-road system has been upgraded to include a Rock function along with the previously available Mud, Snow and Sand. All models are have a degree of go-anywhere capability thanks to the 205mm of wheel travel in the suspension and the 210mm of ground clearance.

The exterior changes include a dual-tone bonnet and new alloy wheels (though the same 19-inchers as the Limited trim), though the LED lighting at the front and rear and the front fog lamps are the same. While the front bumpers are also different on the two variants, the rear ones are identical. The insides get red touches on the AC vents, gear lever and door-mounted speakers.

Along with the images of the Trailhawk, Jeep has also revealed powertrain details for the Renegade line-up in international markets. The base versions will be powered by a 120hp, 1.0-litre turbo-petrol engine sending power to the front wheels. There’s also a 1.3-litre turbo-petrol motor in 150hp and 180hp states of tune. The diesel engine range includes a 120hp, 1.6-litre engine and a 2.0-litre mill in either 140hp or 170hp states of tune. Transmission options depend on the trim level, with a six-speed manual, a seven-speed dual-clutch automatic and a nine-speed automatic on offer. The Trailhawk is powered by the 170hp, 2.0-litre diesel mated to the nine-speed automatic, sending power to all-four wheels.

The refreshed version of Jeep’s smallest SUV will be sold in at least five variants in international markets, with the Trailhawk topping the range.

As Jeep is expected to bring the Renegade facelift to India in the future, and has begun bookings for the Compass Trailhawk, it is likely that the Renegade Trailhawk would also launch in our market. In the meanwhile, the brand is also working on two new SUVs for the Indian market, one of which will be an all-new sub-four-metre model.
