Hyundai Motors has revived its premium hatchback, the i20. Along with new styling cues and a 6-speed transmission, the company has also launched two new variants, Era and Sportz.

The Era will be the base trim level for both petrol and diesel versions, while the Sportz variant will bridge the price and the feature gap between the Magna and Asta trim levels. The new i20’s design philosophy is in-line with the company’s new brand identity and this means the i20 gets a new chrome radiator grill and outside rear view mirrors with integrated turn indicators.

On the inside, it features blue LED interior illumination, silver coloured centre fascia and AC vents, automatic climate control, steering wheel mounted audio controls, and chrome touches on the door panels.

Mechanically, the new i20 gets BS IV compliant petrol and diesel engines. The 1.4-litre CRDi diesel also gets a new six-speed manual transmission. The additional taller sixth gear is sure to improve the car’s driveability and should make the i20 a better cruiser on the highway.

Commenting on the launch, H W Park, MD & CEO, Hyundai Motors, said, “We are pleased to announce the launch of the i20 with new features and two new additional variants. We are confident to set new benchmark in this segment with improved styling, new features and conformity with global standards.”

The i20 Era petrol is priced at Rs 4.51lakh, while the Sportz petrol retails at Rs 5.31lakh (prices ex-showroom, Delhi).
