Honda has officially given the first peek into its heritage center, which is a tribute to the company’s innovative history and growth in North America in the past 55 years. This heritage center is situated in the city of Marysville in Ohio. The making of this 3.67 acre facility cost Rs 222.4 crore, and includes a museum, a Technical Development Centre, and office space for Honda North America.
The museum will open its doors to the public in January 2015. The museum also highlights the company's products and unique milestones in the history of Honda and North America – including an obvious focus on the presence of the automaker in the state of Ohio. The heritage centre will not only feature products from the past, but will also have innovative future products such as the ASIMO humanoid robot and the HondaJet.
In addition to the Honda museum, the building is home to a new Technical Development Center, which is focused on improving the skills of the company's engineers, equipment service technicians, and production associates involved in auto production at Honda plants not only in Ohio, but throughout North America.
Tom Shoupe, chief operating officer and executive vice-president of Honda of America Mfg. Inc., said at the event, "Honda is committed to investing in its team of associates and this new training center will allow our associates to continually develop their manufacturing skills so that they can lead the production of critical global models."
Honda operates 16 major manufacturing facilities in North America, producing a wide range of Honda and Acura automobiles, automobile engines and transmissions, Honda all-terrain vehicles, power equipment products, such as lawn mowers, mini-tillers and general purpose engines, and the HondaJet advanced light jet.
