General Motors is carrying out a voluntary recall of around 1,55,000 of its models in India to rectify an issue related to the remote keyless-entry system. The affected cars being recalled are the Chevrolet Spark, Beat and Enjoy, manufactured between 2007 and 2014, the company has confirmed.

"The remote keyless entry accessory meets all the relevant regulatory standards. However, GM India has been made aware of some isolated cases where certain Chevrolet Spark, Beat and Enjoy vehicles were fitted with a faulty accessory. As a result, the impacted vehicles could experience damage due to inappropriate routing,” a company spokesperson told Autocar India. The carmaker will contact all affected customers to fix the faulty accessory and it'll be done free of charge, confirmed the spokesperson.

General Motors further urged customers having concerns regarding the keyless-entry accessory, to visit their nearest Chevrolet dealer.

This is one of the biggest recalls initiated by the carmaker in the country. General Motors had earlier recalled some units of the Beat hatchback petrol variants in December 2014, to rectify an issue related to the fuel pipe. Moreover, in June 2013, it had recalled 1,14,000 Tavera units to address emissions and specification issues.
